Is there really any member here who is not going to vote democratic???
Because I cannot believe anyone is that stupid!
Being disappointed is one thing. Not voting dem is stupid!
Unless there is some great independent out there then dems are our only rational choice!

12. I did too but I was real religious then
I will vote straight dem, letting them take over again is a nightmare. But i think most of us will vote, its the dummies in the middle that float back and forth that are the problem...

14. Are they really Dems because the D in DU stands for Democratic.
Too many on DU forget who's really the problem and are just as bad as Repubs for it.

36. I've seen at least one say the same thing
They weasel out of the Dem argument by saying that it's the President who isn't the true Democrat and they reserve the right to criticize him, etc. etc. etc.

5. I've voted straight Democrat all my life since 1970
I've never bought into the third party thing. They just siphon votes away from the party that backs the people.
Vote Democratic!

7. I won't be voting straight Democratic...
For example, I will be voting for Andrew Cuomo on the Working Families Party ticket.
Obviously, he will still win, and it will show support for a third party, one which is actually liberal.

Am I breaking the rules here?

Edited on Wed Sep-29-10 11:50 PM by Smarmie Doofus
Don't encourage 'em.

No , it's no rule violation . You're supporting the DEM candidate... just not on the DEM line.

Besides people here advocated for Bloomberg (R) when he ran in 2005 and 2009 against DEM nominees

Mods were unconcerned.

9. Until a few years ago, I would decide separately about every office
But not anymore. I vote a straight ticket now, with very few exceptions, like those running unopposed or the library board. However, I have voted for every Democratic presidential candidate since Jimmy Carter... :)

10. A trick question...
those who vote will likely vote Dem..technically not voting at all is not voting Dem. I believe a lot of disgruntled voters are more likely to stay home than jump ship.

11. My House rep is a rw prowar DEM who will win easily.
I'm not voting for him. If there's splinter party lefty on the ballot, I'll vote for him/her. Otherwise I skip.

Andrew Cuomo gives me the willies ( or is it the "creeps"?) but I'll vote for him because his opponent is Paladino, ( is he nuts, dumb or just plain evil? I haven't figured him out yet. Maybe all three.) and he could conceivably upset.

I usually skip the local races as it's an overwhelmingly DEM district. Sometimes the DEM is also on the GOP line. If possible, I always make a point to vote for a splinter candidate in that circumstance. Even if it's Right to Life.

32. And to be honest
You really do not know that there are just a few. Actions speak louder than words. I would not be surprised if there were more than just a few folks, here on this board, who will not vote Dem. I say that based on their attitude an post on this board. Of course, they would never, ever say that they have done so.

16. Not Me...unless i can vote for Russ Feingold -- one of the few Real Democrats.
Although i dont live in his state i am curious if i can just rent some apartment there and then i can vote for him.
Otherwise, if i cant then i wont be voting at all -- i just cant vote for my party that i feel is too corrupt (republicans are worse but seeing as how democrats are pretty much very similar, i just cant).

My vote will only go for Feingold, Weiner, Grayson, or Kucinich.

17. Straight Democratic, as always
I've never voted for a single R and I skip the non-partisan races if it's two dueling Rs. I study those carefully on the internet to determine partisanship.

I always get a chuckle when I'm doubted or ridiculed simply because I don't cheer lead. Same thing happens on sports sites when I pick the home team to lose. Happens all the time. I probably bet against my favorite teams more often than I bet on them, like Sunday with Jets over Dolphins. When you spot weaknesses as a fan it's easy to identify when they'll be exploited.

I'm registered in Nevada. I concede if I were a voter in Florida, my split residence, it would be a dilemma on Crist or Meeks.

Meeks has no chance but I probably wouldn't want to stain a perfect record.

Actually, it's probably fortunate we're sacrificing Meeks in that race. It's severely uphill and you don't want a blemish on a talented candidate who might succeed in a more favorable cycle. IMO, Meeks is more caddie than player.

Edited on Thu Sep-30-10 01:17 AM by golfguru
on Nov 2nd I will be voting for Danny Heck for US rep from district #3 in WA state.
But I will not be voting for Patty Murray since she voted for this joke of a HCR
bill which rewards private insurers and has increased my premiums by 30% beginning Jan 1st 2011.

20. I turned 18 in 2004 and have voted Democratic in every election possible...
That includes city council primaries even - though those are nonpartisan (I researched and found the political party of the candidates).

I'll never vote for a Republican.

21. DU will vote Democratic -- but we are those rare Americans, who actually pay attention --
At the same time, although all of us will vote D, far fewer of us will work for the circle-Ds at this point.

And for the Obama demographic who are less focused on politics (the vast majority) far too many of them will fail to vote, out of disillusionment, if not out of resentment about being hippie-punched.

At the same time, hippie-punching is a stellar CYA move -- as long as you're convinced you're set to lose the midterms, pre-designating a scapegoat makes tons of sense.

24. I am voting for all DEMS
in 2010. I live in CT and usually always have decent candidates to vote for. If I lived in a reddish or purple state, I may not be so lucky. I wouldn't vote R, but I would vote for a third party if I liked the candidate.

I never voted for a Republican, and have no plans to start now.

29. I see some advocating for Crist, which revolts me
But those are the only posts I see here that say they will not vote Democratic. I always expect some from the rightish side to vote to the right, they did so with Reagan in droves. The Crist candidacy proves that again. Nothing new at all.

30. No, but there are plenty who don't vote at all
And they often have the loudest voices. I'll never forget ordering a copy of Glenn Greenwald's first book. In the preface, he says he never voted for a president before. Obviously, I stopped taking him seriously at that point, and never read him again.

All talk and no action is worse than voting for the wrong person, in my book. Voting is a great privilege and duty. To refuse to do your duty as a citizen is nearly unforgivable.

Sure, I used to occassionaly find an R that I preferred to the D in a some minor race ... but those days ended years ago.
