...until you scroll all the way to the bottom of the page. Top of page has pic of Boner, with five sub-stories and links about the GOP Purge of America.
Surprise.

7. It's the House Leadership (Dems only) Pelosi, Hoyer, Clyburn, Van Hollen |
|
They've each gotten up and listed the accomplishments during the past session -- banking, health care, economy, etc. No breaking news that I've caught.

(Incidentally, VH's SO MUCH BETTER than cantor!!! Talks SUBSTANCE!)
C-Span labels this 'Post-Adjournment News Conference.'
Pelosi up, taking questions. Didn't hear her intro.
Hoyer: We're going to follow our budget 'proposal.'

What didn't you accomplish -- budget, etc. Pelosi turned it over to Hoyer, we did pass budget and we will make sure taxes aren't increased on any American up to $250K
Q: Why has the congress gone home when elections aren't until November? Pelosi says they're called Representatives, the job description and job are the same. Almost two jobs, the job in your district and the job in DC.
Q Boehner is speaking now, saying the House in in a state of emergency. What do you think?
Van Hollen: Boehner engaged in a number of efforts not held in high regard by Americans, K Street Project. Mr. B invited wall street lobbyists and met with them behind closed doors to help plan to sabotage reform bill. We reformed process, as a result, process is transparent, earmarks numbers have come way down, it's very clear Repubs would bring back old practices. When their members got in trouble they actually changed the rules after the fact and fired the Chair of the ethics committee who brought charges.
Hoyer: Reps strategy has been and continues to this day to create gridlock and failure. What was their result - they failed. This is the most productive congress in recent history, the most productive in which I've served. Their new proposal is a pledge to do nothing. Unfortunately the Party of No created a strategy of obstruction and now they complain we've done nothing.
Pelosi: We worked to help the Bush administration We were told on Thursday if we did not act immediately there would be no economy on Monday. We gave our support for the American People. That's how far the Bush Administration took this country into financial crisis.
Asked about Rahm and his replacement Pelosi: The only thing that matters is that that person have the confidence of the Prez, and (I forget the guy's name) certainly does.
The End. :7
Edit because I suck at taking dictation, and to say I'd love to see Pelosi and Boehner one on one.

8. Van Hollen is speaking now about outsourcing and how the Republicans blocked bill |
|
that would hve put a stop to companies getting credits for it. Now speaking about insurance and kids notgetting discriminated against. Also talking about how republicans wanted to cut medicare and offered u a proposal that would have benefited insurance companies.

12. Health insurance companies want to sell more high deductiible catastrophic plan required with HSA's. |
|
They are huge money makers for the health insurance companies. And, the Republicans want these policies sold across state lines, as well--a sure race to the bottom!
I really like Van Hollen. He seems like such a hard working, decent guy.

|
Edited on Thu Sep-30-10 02:17 PM by Kdillard
is in disarray. Van Hallen responded with K street and the bunch of lobbyists that Republicans brought in. Also talked about what Dems have done to hold members accountable but that Republicans changed rules retroactively adn fired the Ethics chair when charges were brought against Republicans. They show a cosy relationship with lobbyists. Hoyer says that it has been the most productive Congress and that the Republican strategy has been to cause failure.
