I mean, since when is Jon Stewart is protected? I mean, Glenn Beck called the President of the United States a racist and nothing happened to him. From what I understand, Sanchez said this on a radio show, not on CNN. So I don't understand how it's a fireable offense? I guess they probably got pissed about the Jew statement. I just don't buy that they fired him for calling a comedian on another network a bigot.

27. What I would say is that

I don't think he was being discriminatory when he said that affluent Jewish people in America do not face the same type of discrimination many Hispanics or other people of color in America face and that certain people from affluent backgrounds have a hard time relating to people with a working class background.

I disagree with pretty much everything else he said, but still, I don't think that the guy is racist or anything like that. We are too quick to throw the word "racist" towards people that have non-conventional or somewhat controversial opinions about race-related topics. I'll give you an example: there was a National Geographic article a couple of years ago that described Puerto Rico as a welfare dependent colony of the US. People got offended and said the magazine was being discriminatory. As a Puerto Rican, I don't necessarily agree with the generalization that PRs are all dependent on welfare, but the article did touch the fact that the welfare dependency among Puerto Ricans is sky high. It's a fact that should be examined and dealt with instead of just attacking the magazine for being discriminatory.

Which is probably the most offensive thing he said, aside for calling Stewart (and anybody who disagrees with him) a bigot.

But sadly, what will probably be responsible for his firing is that he related an incident when he was subjected to stereotyping by a big boss at CNN. This was probably the least objectionable thing he said, but my guess is that this is the reason he was fired.

This said, I agree that Stewart did not the same difficulties than Sanchez had, but so what? What does that have to do with John Stewart?
