Newsweek poll: The Angry Voter Is Overrated
http://www.newsweek.com/2010/10/01/newsweek-poll-anger-unlikely-to-be-deciding-factor-in-midterms.html

"But the NEWSWEEK Poll's most revealing finding is that despite months of media coverage insisting that voters are "mad as hell and not going to take it anymore," anger is unlikely to decide this year's elections. For starters, self-described angry voters constitute only 23 percent of the electorate, and there's no reason to believe that they're more likely to cast ballots in November than their calmer peers. Why? Because the percentage of angry voters who say they will definitely vote in the midterms is statistically indistinguishable from the overall percentage of voters who say the same thing (84 percent vs. 81 percent). In fact, majorities of voters say they would not be more likely to vote for candidates who express anger at Washington incumbents (60 percent), Wall Street bankers (52 percent), the illegal-immigration problem (53 percent), the Gulf of Mexico oil spill (65 percent), or health-care reform (55 percent). Fifty-three percent of voters see Obama's unemotional approach to politics—his "coolness"—as a positive, versus only 39 percent who don't."

2. Newsweek is sensible - finally someone is!
What anger I have is at the GOP, who would never get my vote anyway.

I have complained about every Democrat elected in the last 40 years, but I voted for them and helped elect them - my complaining has nothing to do with Obama, it has more to do with me.

4. Did Joe and Mika cover this last week on Morning Joe?
I know they do a preview of Newsweek's cover and they have its editor on to talk about the latest issue.

I'd be very surprised that they would cover this, tho. Joe, Mika, et al are always talking about the "Angry Voter."

5. Yet the MSM continues to insist otherwise. Tweety is gonna be so confused.
Only 23 percent of voters are angry?

53 percent of voters like Obama's "professorial" coolness?

Looks like the cocktail weinie crowd is WRONG AGAIN. What a suprise.

6. Hooray! So sick of the angry brigade
23 percent sounds like the teabaggers, too.

Angry people are not rational people and don't make the best decisions.

7. You know who has been saying this over and over? Randi Rhodes.
I've been listening to her alot more lately, mostly because where I have been working has no TV.

Sometimes that woman drives me crazy, but - you have to give her credit for seeing thru all the bullshit.
She also talks alot about how Faux may have the largest share of cable news viewers, but it's still a teeny percentage of Americans.

Say what you want about Randi - she is a voice of reason.
