Breaking: Gibbs may replace Kaine as DNC Chair
Edited on Sat Oct-02-10 09:02 AM by Perky

Democratic insiders are taking the temperature of some top party donors about the possibility of naming White House press secretary Robert Gibbs as chairman of the Democratic National Committee heading into President Barack Obama’s reelection campaign in 2012, senior officials tell POLITICO.

Under the scenario being tested, Tim Kaine, the current DNC chairman and former governor of Virginia, would be named to a top administration post, perhaps in the Cabinet, the officials said.

3. Me neither. I will say Kaine must be doing an okay job if Politico is
hoping/praying for this. You just know they have an agenda.

2. Well
Gibbs was better In helping getting Obama elected to the senate and to the White House than as Press Secretary.Kaine has been a
disaster as DNC Chair.Gibbs would be an Improvement. This suggests they know kaine has been a disaster and want someone better for
Obama's relection and possable retaking the House(If Republicans win In November and I am still of the mind Democrats lose seats but
keep the majority)

4. If anyone, DNC chair should be Plouffe (of course, I prefer Howard Dean)
Although Plouffe has another role, I know.
Gibbs is not the type to get people engaged and motivated. Plouffe can and does.
I am for moving Kaine out of that position.
But get someone who isn't going to insult people like Gibbs has.

Of course, this is Politico so they're just floating something, as usual.

7. Kaine should just leave. He is an intolerant person who holds
prejudiced ideas about the voters he is supposed to lead. He should not have any position in the Party nor in the administraion.
Gibbs would be better than Kaine, and also Gibbs would be better at Chair than he is as Press Sec, but I'd have other choices and both Gibbs and Kaine can go work at the mall for all I care. They are a bad deal for the money we pay them.

At least Dean has proven he can perform and win.

in their attempt to win moderates and conservatives to the party.

24. I think it's a great idea!!
Gibbs is used to trench warfare, which is what it takes to run the DNC. I like Kaine a lot, but being at the DNC, is not a good fit. He'd be better put to use somewhere else.

39. The DNC Chair is nothing more than a fundraiser when the party controls the White House
David Axelrod is the one who essentially runs the party's political operation. This would more or less be a demotion for Gibbs. I think Politico is buying into their anonymous sources a bit too much.
