Fox employs every leading potential Republican candidate for President except Mitt Romney.
Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich are all deemed possible 2012 Presidential candidates. They’re also all current employees of Fox News. Not only do they draw a paycheck from the network that would cover their presidential campaigns, they’ve also signed exclusivity deals with Fox. Politico’s Jonathan Martin talks about what this means for him and other political reporters

http://www.onthemedia.org/transcripts/2010/10/01/04

There is an audio link at the site but sadly no transcript for those who are hard of hearing. The interview raises the issue that Fox is running the Republican Primaries.

Paul Krugman also raises the same concern.

A note to Tea Party activists: This is not the movie you think it is. You probably imagine that you’re starring in “The Birth of a Nation,” but you’re actually just extras in a remake of “Citizen Kane.”

True, there have been some changes in the plot. In the original, Kane tried to buy high political office for himself. In the new version, he just puts politicians on his payroll.

I mean that literally. As Politico recently pointed out, every major contender for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination who isn’t currently holding office and isn’t named Mitt Romney is now a paid contributor to Fox News. Now, media moguls have often promoted the careers and campaigns of politicians they believe will serve their interests. But directly cutting checks to political favorites takes it to a whole new level of blatancy.

Murdoch has declared war on democracy.

1. That's how you know they're fair and balanced.
I'm sure if Romney needed a job, they'd be happy to hire him, too.

2. heckuva column by Krugman.
"Perhaps the most important thing to realize is that when billionaires put their might behind “grass roots” right-wing action, it’s not just about ideology: it’s also about business. What the Koch brothers have bought with their huge political outlays is, above all, freedom to pollute. What Mr. Murdoch is acquiring with his expanded political role is the kind of influence that lets his media empire make its own rules."

3. Indeed.
They will all have been given $billions in tv face time; that money is on loan and the winning candidate will be expected to repay it.

You got the one.

I didn't know Fuckabee lost his job with them. Obviously Murdoch thought he had no chance of winning so got rid. I bet he considers Mittens too liberal.

10. HaHa I hadn't heard the Flowbee nickname before. Yeah in Fucks case even though

he's a nut he's relatively smart. Murdoch likes them dumb. Which I guess would put mittens a the top of the list. But his record in MA would probably make it a hard sell for the NeanderFox fans.

As far as Johnson is concerned his obsession w/ Hillary CLinton is pretty creepy. Not to mention his race baiting douchebag comments.

6. This is something I've been harping about for a long time. We need to use the words "Fox employee"
in our language.

13. Corporate America's spending unprecedented millions to put their lackeys back in charge in Congress
Edited on Mon Oct-04-10 06:07 PM by flpoljunkie
Unfortunately, many on the right do not understand they are being used to further the Koch brothers and their ilk's right to pollute American in pursuit of ever bigger corporate profits.

Rupert Murdoch is in debt to the John Robert's court for their Citizens United ruling. This ruling has unleased this unprecedented and unaccoutable river of money to put Republicans back in control of Congress.

They must not succeed!
