Their idea of health insurance is Health Savings Accounts which require a high deductible catastrophic policy and they want it sold across state lines (a sure race to the bottom) and healthcare insurance only the health insurance industry could love!

And, of course, Wall Street has been salivating for many years to get their hands on our Social Security contributions.

Of course, these corporate lackeys can do neither while President Obama is president, altho they will try to defund healthcare.

1. American voters know NOTHING. That's why they keep getting exactly the government they deserve. nt

5. It's hard to educate people who don't want to be educated.
Some people refuse to listen to any facts that conflict with their ideology.

2. That's exactly what the GOP wants. And it would destroy Social Security and Medicare.
Immediately. But it would fatten the fat cats' coffers like nothing else, giving Wall Street and the insurance industry untold billions.

Gated communities for them and poverty for the other 99 percent. The GOP dream.

4. Of course they don't...
...and our news media makes it a point to resist discussion of any actual issues. The Republicans have made use of this, by coining convenient catchwords like "Obamacare" and then pinning all sorts of negative stuff to it, while avoiding any discussion of their own policy positions, which would not be all that popular.

In my estimation, the reason our side is so hapless is because our representatives are so compromised that they cannot speak using direct terminology lest they offend their benefactors. Therefore they do the mealy-mouth thing and people instinctively react to that -- they know that, even if the person is not outright lying, they are not telling the truth, either.

So the Republicans are effective at getting their message out, and of course they have the advantage of media organizations that generally support them. While Democrats have the disadvantage that the media organizations are generally out to get them, while at the same time they have no message discipline, because their message is muddied to begin with.
