FL-GOV POLL: Sink 44, Scott 40.
TALLAHASSEE – Democrat Alex Sink is clinging to a slight, 4-percentage point lead over Republican Rick Scott in Florida's race for governor despite an intensifying barrage of heavy-caliber attack ads that a new poll suggests is hurting both candidates.

The Mason-Dixon Polling and Research survey released Friday found Sink with 44 percent support among voters and Scott holding steady with 40 percent. That's essentially a statistical tie – the poll has a 4 percentage-point margin of error -- but shows the race tightening. Two weeks ago, a Mason-Dixon poll had Sink leading 47 percent-to-40 percent.

A string of public polling over the last two weeks has shown the race narrowing to a toss-up as advertising campaigns turn to harsher attacks and voters start to absorb them.

Mason-Dixon managing director Brad Coker said the poll, commissioned by the Orlando Sentinel/Sun Sentinel and other news media, suggested Scott's wave of negative ads challenging Sink's banking background and performance as state chief financial officer were causing both sides' supporters to re-think their votes.

Sink, along with Florida Democrats and groups like the Police Benevolent Association, have invested more than $12 million in ads since mid-August – many of them spots attacking Scott's health-care company or his plans to slash prison spending.

1. she better hope that Meek stays in
because if he does what the progressives are telling him to, his base will stay at home and Sink will sink like the titanic.
