Should Pelosi listen to Pence and call Congress back?
I think Pence is right and the Speaker should seize on his words. Have an up or down vote on all the Bush tax cuts. Only I would break it into two votes: one covering those earning under $250k and one covering those earning over $250k.

In the weekly Republican address Indiana Rep. Mike Pence urged House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to call Congress back into session, a little more than two weeks before the midterm elections.

"Washington DC doesn't tax too little, Washington DC spends too much. Raising taxes on job creators won't create jobs," Pence said. "Speaker Nancy Pelosi should call Congress back into session immediately and allow an up-or down-vote on preserving all current tax rates."

Pence was referring to the extension of the so-called Bush-era tax cuts that Congress failed to address before leaving Washington last month. The House GOP Conference chairman also equated the plight of the 33 Chilean miners trapped beneath the ground for 69 days to the U.S. economy.

1. Once again, they see the metaphors in wordly concepts.
I think the Chilean miners is a metaphor for dignity of all people, and how all people have worth and value.

And a society that will save miners trapped, will also save the elderly, the poor, the hungry, the prisoners, those that are thought less by bias, and any other person that might need a hand up :)

3. More rhetorical bullshit from Republicans
"up-or down-vote on preserving all current tax rates"

Not only does Pence know this is not going to happen, but if Pelosi were to call them back for an "up-or down-vote" on the middle-class tax cuts, these assholes would have a fit.

5. Do not believe anything Mike Pence says.
Three years ago he held a news conference with Gramps McCain after their return from Iraq and stated ON CAMERA that "The surge is working. Iraq is as peaceful as an Indiana Flea Market in the summertime."
