Obama's biggest mistake is allowing Tim Kaine to stay at the DNC |
|
It amazes me that he still has a job. I thought he would be gone after Scott Brown.

We did fare better in House special elections, though. Lost a seat, gained a seat & held six. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_elections_to_the_111th_United_States_Congress

He opposes same-sex marriage and even civil unions. He should have never had the position.

You mean the election where some people thought they would teach the Democrats a lesson, some even voting for Brown?

36. Yeah! Failure is cool! |
|
If he was doing "fine", we would be talking about how many seats the Dems were going to pick up-not how many they are going to lose.
It is low expectations like yours, that doom the democrats to mediocrity at best.

26. well, truth be told, the heat he was getting |
|
from axelrod, Rahm, and other brain rusts in the incoming admin helped him decide. After all, they were screwing with him even before November, attacking him at every opportunity.
Dean left because he did not want a major fight with the new admin. He did the honorable thing, something I cannot say about Rahm or Axelrod.

about being pressured out of a job rather than choosing to leave voluntarily because he didn't want to be a figurehead.

12. Out of the 3 most recent DNC chairs I don't know what skill Kaine brings to the |
|
table. I mean MCAuliff(SP?)was famous for raising money. Dean had the 50 state strategy. Kaine has lost races and re-designed the party logo. That's just sad.

20. The DNC members technically select the Chairman |
|
But when the President is a Democrat, they always vote for whomever the President recommends. When there is a Republican President there is a competitive election process.
Also, when the President is a Democrat the DNC Chair is a powerless figurehead. The actual decision making is done by David Axelrod and other members of the White House political team.

21. We all agree, Kaine sux! Sadly, at least for the last 2 years, he fit the desired theme..so... |
|
in that regard, he was the perfect choice. I doubt you will ever get someone as strong as Dean to replace Kaine since it is clear that Dean goes against the establishment and that is not good for business.

The President doesn't "select" the DNC chair, and he is only one vote out of many in deciding who fills that role.

When the party doesn't control the White House there is a competitive election process for the job and the DNC members vote to decide who gets it. When the party controls the White House, the committee members always vote for whomever the President recommends for the job. The role of the chair is also severely diminished because strategy decisions are made by White House political advisors rather than the DNC.

POTUS biggest mistake was 1) picking Summers et al. whcih resulted in a no strings attached bailout. If the bailout has strings attached, there probably is no astroturf tea party in the picture at all this year; 2) picking Rahm which resulted in the health care fiasco. If health care had become bill it had the potential to be, we have much greater, ummmm "enthusiasm." Tim Kaine is way down the list of mistakes IMHO
