1. That IS good news
although I take exception to their claim that African Americans have become disillusioned with the pace of recovery & so will refrain from voting. I say HORSESHIT! Anything to discourage the Democratic vote, it seems.

4. I'm fairly certain I got canvassed this week....
... by an OFA volunteer. African American gentleman, 50'ish, walking door to door, clip board in his hand.

I never answer the door if I dont know the person so I didn't talk to him, but that has to be what he was doing (I didn't put 2 and 2 together at the time or I would have.)

The Democratic candidate in this House district has been given by Nate Silver 0% chance of winning ... yet there this man was, clip board in hand.

Keep hope alive! :patriot:

5. I've posted this before

so I hope you won't mind me doing it again. I received this email, titled "VOTE NOVEMBER 2nd" from a long-time African-American friend regarding encouraging African-Americans to vote for Democrats. I've forwarded it along with positive feedback across the board. If you like it, copy and paste, and send it along as well.

----

WE MUST VOTE ON NOVEMBER 2nd AS IF OUR LIVES DEPEND UPON IT, BECAUSE THEY DO!

The Republican party has embraced dangerous, radical hate-mongers called the "Tea Party." They are led by Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, and the owners of right wing media outlets whose chief goal is to take down President Obama. These people hate blacks, latinos, minorities in general, and any Republican who might want to cooperate with President Obama. More than anything, they desperately hate our President.

Their rallying cry? "We want to take our country back!" Take it back from who and to when? The 1940s or 50s? American soil remains stained with the blood of our Africa-American brothers and sisters who protested, fought, and died for our right to vote.

The polls say Republicans are going to win enough seats to take over the U. S. House and maybe the Senate because Democrats lack the enthusiasm to vote. WE MUST GET AS MANY, AND MORE, PEOPLE TO THE POLLS AS WE DID DURING THE 2008 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION!

We want your enthusiasm but, more importantly, we need you to vote. We need you to vote out of FEAR. Fear that these radicals will take our country back to Jim Crow. Fear that the virulent hatred of the KKK and similar hate groups will once again be the order of the day. You think this couldn't happen? Just stay home on election day and take a gamble on what might happen if we allow Republicans to take over.

Remember the importance of voting, and don't leave voting to the other guy. Vote a straight Democratic ticket for your U. S. Senator, Congressman, Governor, and Democrats down the ballot.

Like African drums calling out across America, reach as many people as you can! Don't break this chain message, or we may find ourselves in chains once again.
VOTE NOVEMBER 2nd, or early vote if that's an option in your area!

Forward this E-mail to at least 15 people and please keep it going!

----

So, maybe there is real enthusiasm among African-Americans to vote. Hope so!! Do what you can to GOTV for our Democratic candidates.

6. “It very much is about having the president’s back,”
said Brad Woodhouse, a spokesman for the Democratic National Committee.

8. Excellent news from smart Democrats.
Representative James E. Clyburn of South Carolina, "I think people are beginning to see that all these expectations would not be out of line if the president were a magician.” And “You lay a foundation and you build upon it," that's what progress is about. We know that. We've lived that and there's no way around it.

11. Girl, with the Tea Party people and
Republicans kowtowing to them, I feel Jim Crow breathing down my neck. I put nothing past their scary demands. Remember 2006 when they tried NOT to RENEW the Voting Rights Act?! I mean they were resoundingly defeated but still - to even consider the unthinkable. These people are a danger to society.
