WH House AGAIN Makes a Point of Saying "We will retain control of Congress."
Edited on Sun Oct-17-10 08:17 AM by Clio the Leo
.... besides the fact that I'm not sure the WH ever had control of Congress to begin with (huh!) ... Robert Gibbs has just stated, again, that he thinks Dems will retain control of both the House & Senate. This is a repeat of a claim he's made before, a claim the President has made and a claim that Biden has been making for quite some time (they seem to use him to test the message.)

http://twitter.com/#!/mikeallen/status/27635287797

(dont poo poo Mike Allen, I'm watching MTP and Gibbs said it.)

They're not saying this in response to a question .... they are VOLUNTEERING the statements.

Why?

Are they just to keep us :fistbump: FIRED UP!? .... Trying to insure continued cash flow from donors? .... Or do they really mean it? Is it normal for the losing party to do this every mid-term? .... Or do they have some inside info we dont? ..... Obviously they're privy to polls and info we are not .... but they were wrong about Scott Brown.

Thoughts anyone?

ETA: One WH reporter has noted perhaps their being clever .... even if Dems lose 60 seats in November, they'll still maintain control of Congress "after election day" ... until January. ;)

12. I define an idiot
as one who does idiot things. Pissing off the base three months before an election is an idiot thing to do.

When you say he is no idiot, do you really mean that he is crafty, conniving, sneaky, and able to promote himself? Those things don't preclude him being an idiot if we define idiot as someone who does idiot things. His IQ and general intelligence don't matter if his brain power results in idiot activities. By his deed shall he be known.

6. He's not an idiot he is an inartful jerk, dry and often rude due to
having himself as his highest priority. He's a smart man, good recall, but he's just not socialized well, and this makes him an exceptionally poor choice for the exceptionally difficult job of Press Sec. He is also a poor fit for Chair, anything public is not a good idea for him, although I know he craves that role, he either needs to buckle down and hone his skills or change his professional path to fit his own being.

4. Gee, I guess he should say the Democrats are going to lose their ass, and don't bother to vote, huh
Really, in all seriousness there is nothing wrong with his statement

8. They pretty much have to say this...
It has no meaning at all other than to keep the base motivated.

9. They are right ...
These are the same people who were behind BO before he became the prohibitive favorite, who withstood a mamouth primary challenge from Hillary, and the media turning on them to push the meme about how they can't win because Hillary supporters would not back them, who withstood the endless stream of crape thrown at them from months about not wearing a friggen flag lapel pin to being a "star" or wtf that was, to Palinpalooza ...

Sorry, their calm confidence on this point is reflective of their calm confidence during the two year presidential campaign ...

And, sorry, some republican butt kissing white house insider reporter trying to spin a direct statement as being spin pretty much proves it ...

11. For a given value of "control."
It seems likely that Congress' ability to pass vital legislation will be reduced further.
