I Hope Jerry Brown Wins
I can remember when he burst on the national scene in 1976 by getting in the Democratric primaries late and winning a bunch of them. I also remember Muhammad Ali endorsing him and saying "I'm endorsing him because he's young like me." I also remember he dated Linda Rondstadt.

shit in those states with minimal effort, but you first.

30. To answer your question...
http://www.texasahead.org/economy/outlook.html

http://www.forbes.com/2009/06/30/north-dakota-hoeven-business-energy-economy.html

Even a cursory look at these articles will convince you
that their economies are in better shape. That does not
mean everything is perfect there either. I am sure Texas
has some problems more serious than California. But from
viewpoint of jobs, state budget deficits etc they seem to be doing much better.

31. TX economy is good. BUT we have a huge deficit. But I'm not complaining...
Texas is in good shape, compared to the other states, is what I hear.

But jobs are scarce. I know my company has significant layoffs last year.

13. LOL, right?
I just don't understand why it's a mess, it wasn't such a mess before Ahnuld took over.....oh wait....

Seriously the weird thing now is nobody can really tell you what Gray Davis was recalled over. It was such a railroading job and look what it got us.

5. Brown has often ruffled establishmentarian feathers
because he is not easily categorized and doesn't care to be controlled by block interests, especially those interests which run afoul of fair representation.

He's been a true blue spirit for a long time.

I hope he wins, too. Brown's virtues are very convincing and besides, Whitman is monstrous.

6. I met Jerry a couple of times when he was Governor
and I was too young to vote. He was amazing. I asked him a question and he asked me 5 in return. Yeah, Linda was there too. She was also amazing. I interrupted them at dinner and they were so cool about it, and Jerry was just so present, and knowledgeable and kind. Unlike any political figure I have met since, he seemed to value speaking to me as much as I did speaking to both of them. Such respect from adults was at the time still very rare and downright startling. He was the Governor of California, and he took no status with me. He was a fine role model in many ways that were later valuable to me.
That is my little story from way back in the wayback, Lucy's El Adobe, Melrose Ave.
Jerry is the once and future Governor of California. GOTV CA!

20. Early voting's already started
If you're not already a mail voter you can go down to your county registrar and fill in your ballot there. There should still be time to request, receive and return a mail-in ballot.

21. This is crazy. I'm one of a few African-Americans
in a very red town but I absolutely enjoy walking into the station to vote because everyone assumes who I'm voting for  Thought all the stares were strange the first year here, because I'm just like everyone else at the supermarket, gas station, et cetera. I know tons of really great people here but do get pleasure from making them all squirm a little come election season.

19. Electing Brown won't bring back the 70s
or fix what's wrong with the state (or the state democratic party), which a lot of people here seem to believe. I think he's the best choice on the ballot, but that's not saying a lot. I voted for him, but I'm not expecting miracles.

22. You're quite right about not bringing back the 70's.
Nobody can bring them back.

But getting Jerry elected will help get the state headed back in the right direction.

I don't expect miracles either, but I do expect that he will knock some heads together.

24. The OP may be reminiscing. But
I don't see where a lot of people here think the '70s are coming back. Besides, what's wrong with remembering when the state was in much better shape and using that goodwill as a strong impetus to vote for a good man/the best choice, thank goodness we have one on record.

I miss when the country, with multiple generations, enjoyed the same hits from coast to coast for months on end. The Eagles, Rondstadt and Browne were right there :)

28. Jerry will win. I never doubted it for a moment. $150 million failed. We love Jerry Brown here.
$150 million and it still couldn't make Californians have a false memory about Jerry.

That says more about Jerry Brown than anything anyone could ever utter.
