Obama: Republicans counting on voter amnesia



COLUMBUS, Ohio - President Barack Obama says Republicans are trying to ride Americans' frustration with the economy to success in the midterm elections, counting on voters "forgetting who caused the mess in the first place."

Obama spoke Sunday night at a rally at Ohio State University. Campus police estimated the crowd at 35,000.

The president acknowledged there are people "hanging by a thread," but said Republicans have only offered the "philosophy that nearly destroyed our economy." He encouraged Ohio voters to tell the GOP they don't want to go back to those principles.

5. What baffles me is how voters can vote Repubs? Yes, Dems squandered opportunities and sold us out..

but still i just cant put back the people that not only started this mess but want to perpetuate it.

What breaks my heart more is that democrats had an opportunitiy to listen to liberals to get the country set right but chose to go with special interests and water down bills that could hopefully keep them set with blood money. So new laws like HCR which should have had at least the Public Option now is hurting dems because as expected Insurers are increasing prices to make it seem the reform is causing hte problem when in fact the real reason is because reform did not put in cost control measures such as competition. Or financial reform which continues to allow banks to be even more too big to fail.

because this is cyclic i expect repubs will take control and force Obama to sign unpopular things into law and eventualyl dems will regain control after more disaster strikes.

You mention what we "could have got"...but don't seem to mention which 60 votes
we could have gotten. You are in effect ignoring the politics in our politics,
and are still wishing on a star.
