1. Damn coke machine - you just know they purposely chose that spot to cuff him.
Shove, yank, twist. Jerks.

2. The Miller campaign claimed the reporter was out of control...
this video, may put a serious damper on that claim. One of those goons seems to be intimidating another woman trying to video tape the incident.

4. Some private guards are off-duty police working overtime.
Note - I have no idea how it works in Alaska, but in many areas police officers are allowed to work as security in their off-duty hours. They usually retain their ability to detain and/or arrest people in certain circumstances. IIRC, in some areas that's the only way that a security guard can be armed.

Can't tell from the competing stories whether this is reasonable or not in this case.

7. Reading between the lines it appears that the real police in effect rescued the reporter
The fact that he was released after the police speaks volumes. No evidence in the video that the reporter is "out of control". He's just asking the high-and-tight guys who they are.

8. Based on the guy's report on Last Word
he should be able to bring charges of assault against the security jerks besides possible illegal confinement.

9. Fuck those pigs. I hope they die of cancer.
Note that they immediately took the camera and erased the footage of the arrest.

Gee, why would they do that?

This is why I hate cops. Every single one of them.

Professional liars, and professional prostitutes for the powerful.
