Obama charts biggest 3-day tracking poll gains of his presidency
Edited on Tue Oct-19-10 01:13 AM by victoryparty
I was looking at the Rasmussen Reports tracking poll numbers and found that Obama's total approval has jumped six points in the past three days. Suddenly, he is at 49 percent total approval and 50 percent total disapproval at Rasmussen.

I researched the easily accessible numbers at Rasmussen and found this is the biggest three-day gain in approval (as measured by Rasmussen) of Obama's presidency. It will be interesting to see what the numbers look like over the next few days, beginning with Oct. 19.

1. Polls these days have a very short shelf life
After a poll is more than 48 hours old it is virtually not worth talking about any more because LOOK! Over there! It's a new poll!!!

That's why I do my best to avoid them all together now.

2. True enough, bluestateguy, but...
...if it turns out the bump in Obama's numbers correlate to his campaigning and campaign rhetoric, and that in turn translates into enough of a firewall to block the GOP takeover of the House, then these three days will mark the turning point in his midterms comeback -- if there is to be one.

I would have to see these numbers increase and then hold for at least 5-7 days before I began thinking that there was a last-minute moodswing in the electorate, but then again, stranger things have happened. If Tom Dewey were around, we could ask him about that.
