New WI Senate Poll--Johnson (R) 49% Feingold (D) 47%
MILWAUKEE (AP) ― A new poll says Wisconsin's U.S. Senate race is a tossup between Democratic incumbent Russ Feingold and Republican challenger Ron Johnson.

The St. Norbert College Survey Center poll shows Johnson ahead, 49 percent to 47 percent. The margin of error is 5 percentage points.

Other recent polls have shown Johnson with a slight lead. However, Feingold says his internal polling has been showing a virtual tie among likely voters.

The poll released Tuesday afternoon also found that 42 percent of respondents approve of the job President Barack Obama is doing, while 52 percent disapprove.

The St. Norbert poll is sponsored by Wisconsin Public Radio. It questioned 402 registered likely voters between Oct. 12 and Friday.

7. Lol... you haven't been "waiting" for it.
You've been seeing it behind every bush for weeks now.

Can't say that I'd feel bad if you had it right for a change.

9. Still seeing that surge in the TPM tracking?
Edited on Tue Oct-19-10 02:25 PM by FBaggins
I swear... two or three polls look good and you're off about "Big MO" again. Two or three bad polls a day or two later? You're two of the three monkeys at the same time.

I sure hope that you'll turn out to be right... but it's all blind squirrel from what I can see.

Can you point to Labor Day on this and show me the mojo?

10. It's Becoming A Bit Sad How It's So Important For You To Follow Me Around Denying Dems Momentum
Edited on Tue Oct-19-10 02:28 PM by Beetwasher
But if making yourself look foolish turns you on, go for it! Ok, maybe it's not really sad, but rather pretty funny.

C'mere boy! Woof!

Dems got the MOJO, just like I said, and poor poor Frodo is all sad about it. Wahhh!

Sorry if it's painful for you... but better you at least visit now an again rather than end up there the hard way.

12. Reality Is Dems Have Momentum And You Follow Me Around Denying They Have Momentum
Edited on Tue Oct-19-10 02:30 PM by Beetwasher
Woof woof! C'mere boy!

There's "Frodo reality", where Lisa Murkowski will never go write in and Democrats never have momentum. And then there's reality.

I'll take reality as opposed to "Frodo reality".

20. Its all about turnout, those numbers in the chart are weighted
according to various methods, and in a mid-term election they can be off by quite a bit.

25. But they are weighted in an internally consistent fashion.

The trent, IOW, has nothing to do with whether a measure of LV is the correct one.

The point here was that the poster I replied to has maintained a constant mantra that today's news (whatever day it was and whatever the news said) proved that we now had the big MOmentum... which he began predicting several weeks ago and which he claimed was evidenced by the TPM tracking of generic polls. It doesn't matter how bad things get in that measure... he keeps his head in the sand and pretends that he knew what he was talking about.

It would be hilarious if not for the subject of the debate. Frankly, I'd rather have been wrong.

You are, of course, absolutely correct. Turnout will be key.

26. I don't think thats correct for two reasons:
The momentum seen in some of the individual races is happening in the last couple of weeks. This is a very short period of time.

The data in that chart is a mixture of polls all with their own methodologies and taken at staggered and unequal intervals.

To see small movement over 2 weeks I think you need to narrow the focus down and get rid of all the extraneous noise.

Just my opinion of course.

18. WoW!!
That really is a change from the doom and gloom polls the last two months. This backs up what Feingold has been saying. If it were anyone but Feingold giving numbers so far from the released ones, I would put it down to talk - but Feingold has never played with the truth.

29. Dunno. Feingold's move in the poll is a perfect example.
No one on here will give Obama the credit for this and it was after the whole applause for health care that Feingold managed to salvage this race.

He went from being down at double digits to in the margin of error. This is crazy.
