Rasmussen Poll--FL Senate: Rubio (R) 43% (-7) Crist (I) 32% (+7) Meek (D) 20%(+1) |
|
Republican Marco Rubio remains the front-runner in Florida's contentious three-way U.S. Senate race.
The latest Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey of Likely Voters shows Rubio, a former speaker of the Florida House, picking up 43% of the vote, while Republican Governor Charlie Crist who is running as an independent captures 32%. Democrat Kendrick Meek remains in third place with 20% of the vote. Two percent (2%) prefer some other candidate, and three percent (3%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
The race remains Solid Republican in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Senate Balance of Power rankings.
Last week, Rubio held a 50% to 25% edge over Crist, his best showing in the race to date. Prior to that time, Rubio has led the race in every survey since July, with his support steadily rising from the mid-30s to the low 40s. During that same period, Crist received 30% to 34% of the vote. Support for Meek, a U.S. congressman since 2003, has climbed from 15% to 23% in those surveys.

2. Of course. I don't know what made Meek think he could beat both Rubio and Crist. |

32. Agreed. Meek was able to raise his profile and is better positioned for future races. |
|
Corrine Brown looked at running but I think she realized that it was a republican year in Florida and was better off staying out of the race.

6. Anyone with 2 brain cells infused with realism should see that this race is between Rubio and Crist, |
|
with Meek a very distant 3rd.
So if it's going to be either Rubio or Crist, and not the Democrat Meek, then which of those 2 would be worse? Then you may as well choose the lesser of the 2 evils because it will not be the Democratic candidate.
I can say this: here in Wisconsin if Feingold was getting his ass handed to him by 2 other candidates, an Independent-Bad and a Republican-Worse, and Feingold had no chance of winning I know I would be voting for Bad because I have to live here and deal with the consequences of my vote and not live in some fantasy world of purity perfection (although Feingold is as much of a senator that I could ever hope for).

7. This could be pretty close on E-day. |
|
A lot of people who say Meek while on the phone, particularly hard-core Dems, could very easily abandon him in the voting booth in order to prevent Rubio from winning. Meanwhile, I don't see a lot of Crist voters doing the same.

19. Why do you want Sink to lose? |
|
Many African Americans won't come out to vote if Meek drops out. Sink has a 5 point lead in race for governor. Without the A-A vote Sink will sink like a rock.
