Why Has Sestak Pulled Even With Toomey?
PHILADELPHIA -- As the Pennsylvania Senate candidates prepare for two crucial debates, the first one here tonight, the question is: why has Democratic Rep. Joe Sestak pulled even with Republican/Tea Party Rep. Pat Toomey?

The answer requires two things: getting the voter-registration numbers and talking to Rep. Bob Brady, the burly guy who runs the Democrats' antique yet still-potent Philadelphia machine.

I did both and the bottom line is this. There may be a GOP wave building elsewhere in the country, but it doesn't show up in the registration figures in deep-blue Pennsylvania; and Brady, a skeptical man who at first was no fan of Sestak's, now thinks "the admiral" can turn it around.

Of course, all elections are about numbers, but in Pennsylvania the arithmetic is stark and simple. The Democrats traditionally have had a huge edge in party registration -- and need to keep it -- and a Democratic statewide candidate needs to "come out of Philly" with at least 400,000 votes

1. I didn't think he could pull it out-but it is looking better and Sestak has some good ads to run on.
Tommey is extreme and I think Sestak has been good at tapping into that. Mr. Sestak wasn't my choice in the primaries, but I am doing what I can to see that he becomes our next Senator.

2. I believe Joe Sestak has held a lead all along
and that it's getting harder for the RW's mighty Wurlitzer to maintain the Potemkin Village of support for smarmy Toomey.

If there's an actual surge in support, I believe it may be related to the TV ad relating this sordid tale:

Ad claims Toomey favors China trade over U.S. jobs
Saturday, October 09, 2010
By Daniel Malloy, Post-Gazette Washington Bureau

WASHINGTON -- Announced by the sound of a gong, China has invaded Pennsylvania's U.S. Senate race in a pair of television ads attacking Republican Pat Toomey.

The Joe Sestak campaign and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee unveiled television spots this week that extend the class warfare arguments against Mr. Toomey from his time on Wall Street to his support for opening trade barriers with the world's most populous nation -- at the supposed expense of U.S. jobs.

The ads could prove most potent in Western Pennsylvania, where manufacturing jobs have left for nations with lower production costs, including China.

"Millionaire Pat Toomey, he's fighting for jobs -- in China," the DSCC spot begins, as a Chinese flag unfurls in the background accompanied by a gong sound.

It's devastating in its effect.

5. I am sure he was behind, but not at the margins ...
the polls were showing ... I have posted a couple of times that while calling the races as wins, the polls missed the overall support and final margin in the last three state races for BO, Rendell and Santorum ... Even in a year when the polls are not overcompensated in Rs favors, they have not gotten the support for D candidates in a state that is not as "purple" overall as the MSM wants to paint it ...

Also, as some noted, Sestak is using the same formula as he did in the primary - hold his cash for the end, and work his arse off beating the weeds shaking hands ... And, when he does unleash his money, he runs darn good ads ...

Finally, Toomey has a VERY soft underbelly in this campaign with his wall street background ... With no real opponent in the primary and Sestak holding his fire until the last month, he has run a complete stealth campaign ... But, he has on the record positions supporting outsourcing, not taxing corporations, privitizing SS ... VERY much not main stream, and Sestak has the cash to put it all out in the final runnup ...

9. Exactly! People counted him out and his "rope-a-dope" strategy, coupled
with highly effective and truthful ads are winning the day!

This man deserves to win! He deserves to be in the Senate!!

If you can donate, please do.

The Pukes, along with Chamber thugs connected directly to Toomey and the Koch Bros. are pouring money into this race. We the People need to fight back!!!!

7. He is turning it around. There are at least 30 smear ads an hour for Toomey. The
only thing they do is make Toomey look like rotten potatoes. There are even ads using nothing but little children. USING children to spread lies is just plain sick. Once an hour a Sestak ad comes on. It is simple and to the point. Toomey is for legislation that sends more jobs overseas. He is pro China. And he himself said that people want to be unemployed because the don't have to work to get money. The AFL-CIO has been making calls daily. This is an industrial, blue collar state. People that work hard to feed their families and are proud of a job well done. The people don't like back stabbers and that is what Toomey is. Hopefully Sestak's few simple ads are making an impression.
