CNN/Time Poll--Ohio Governor: Strickland (D) 48% Kasich (R) 47%
Edited on Wed Oct-20-10 04:02 PM by WI_DEM
(Plus Arkansas Gov and FL Gov):

In Arkansas, by contrast, where the incumbent Democrat, Blanche Lincoln, appeared to be headed for defeat, the incumbent Democratic Governor, Mike Beebe, held a comfortable 27 point lead over his Republican opponent, former state Sen. Jim Keet. In Florida, where the Democratic senate candidate, Kendrick Meek, was polling at just 20%, the Democratic candidate for governor, Alex Sink, was narrowly trailing Republican Rick Scott by just three points, making the race a dead heat given the poll's margin of error. And in Ohio, incumbent governor Ted Strickland was polling at 48%, one point ahead of his Republican opponent, John Kasich and 8 points ahead of the Democratic senate candidate Lee Fisher.

All of the polls were conducted by telephone between Oct. 15 and 18. The margin of error among likely voters was 3.5% for Arkansas, Florida and Ohio and 3% for Alaska

Strickland Catches Kasich in Ohio
A new CNN/Time/Opinion Research poll in Ohio finds Gov. Ted Strickland (D) has erased John Kasich's (R) lead and is now in front by one point, 48% to 47%.

Just a month ago, Kasich held a seven point lead in a similar poll.

3. Polls are weird this season. It is clear that pollsters have widely different
likely voters hypothesis, and we will know on Nov 2 which is correct.

4. Goddamn. It's essential to keep Strickland in.
Remember how much vote stealing and election tampering went on under that miserable criminal Blackwell ... :grr:

8. Yep ... And Sink, too ...
I don't think that Onorato is going to be able to get past Corbett here in PA, but this election sets the tables for the key players in redistricting after the census that will set congressional districts for the next 10 years ... It would be a little bit of a save in a tough election season to at least get the governors of some big key states like Ohio and Florida to have the executive who has to check off on the final disticts not be a teet sucking republican ... Cali is always hotly contested by Rs, but this is definitely why they are putting all of their chips on Witman ...

5. I have been polled 4 times this month...
And 3 of the 4 were clearly written by Republicans or Right-wing types. They asked leading questions. They used dog whistle terms over and over ("freedom", "off our backs", "out of control spending", "tax increases").

One of the guys was clearly a college kid picking up extra cash and I think he might have gotten fired for laughing out loud when I told him the only way I would vote for a Republican was if someone cut off my hand and used it to push the buttons for them...

6. There's so much variation from poll to poll, they can't have any credibility.
Earlier in the week, all of the media were reporting that Kasich had opened up a double-digit lead over Strickland.

This just shows how flawed the polling is, and that media will conduct or find polls to satisfy their biases. The polls I referred to that had Kasich with the big lead were run by RW newspapers and Clear Channel radio stations in my area.

7. I like it, but it's bizarre.
Just this week alone, the Plain Freeper proudly reported their endorsement had an 8 and 10 point lead in different polls (one of them was Quinnipac).

Figures the Palin Freeper would endorse a Wall Street Slash-n-Waster like Kascich, who's name almost rhymes with Fascist.
