Progressive blogs or Urban Radio?
Edited on Wed Oct-20-10 10:52 PM by angee_is_mad
which one do you think has the most influence in the Black community when it comes to this year's elections?
Wonder if some of the prominent progressive bloggers ever thought about going on black radio reciting what they blog about this political season? Especially about who should drop out of an election and what the POTUS has or hasn't done.
I've heard some on black radio, but their rhetoric tend to be totally different from what they blog about. Something I've always wondered.

Oh, and black folks have computers.

1. Oh, I can just picture it now

Jane Hamsher or Glen Greenwald going on Tom Joyner. They'd be getting a whole bunch of looks just like this one the whole time:

Edit: And just had another thought. Can you imagine John Aravosis going on Al Sharpton's show???  I'm dying just thinking about it.

Edit 2: I just realized. I've been out of the country for a long time. For all I know these magical events, this crashing of Negro pragmatist minds with high-minded liberal "bishops" has already happened! I"m sure that if it has happened, that the "bishops" were on their VERY best behavior.

5. OMG that Whitney gif is fantastic
Whitney and I both prefer urban Mr Joyner to Ms Firebagger.

I think sometimes one can get in a bubble on the blogs and think the blogosphere is REALITY versus the blogosphere being just a part of it. Especially when it comes to the black community.

2. That's a really interesting question
I don't live in an urban area so I don't know quite what urban radio entails, but I think even without the internet or radio, there are fairly strong ties between black families and communities. I think the influence is in the communities. But, I could be behind.

3. Urban radio=Black radio
For example, I think some would be too intimidated to go on Black radio saying that the democratic senatorial candidate who won his primary should drop out, so that the repub (who was losing his primary) can win against the teabagger.

I might be wrong, but I can not imagine markos going on Michael Baisden saying that Kendrick Meek should drop out so that charlie crist can win.
