More than 11,000 cheer on Obama at GOTV rally in Portland, OR
PORTLAND, Oregon – President Barack Obama may have lost some political ground in 2010 -- but with more than 11,000 people cheering in a packed Oregon Convention Center Wednesday evening – fans said he got it back, and may have brought new HOPE to this Democratic stronghold in Oregon. “I got a special place in my heart for Oregon,” Obama exclaimed.

Obama does what he does best – rally the Democratic base
While the president was somewhat late for this Portland rally – arriving three hours after the advertised 4 p.m. (Pacific) start time -- he did as most rock stars do when they finally arrive for a concert. He got them charged up right from the get-go.

“In less than two weeks, you can set the direction of this state and this country,” the president asserted.

He then “smiled that reached clear to my heart,” said one Obama supporter during a televised interview after the rally. The supporter said she especially liked it “when the president seemed to turn to me and all the people around me and yelled, ‘Yes, you can. Yes, you can.’ I really needed to hear that. I really did because I voted for him, and I want our country to succeed.”

In reply to the president’s call for them to keep the faith and have hope in his plan for change, the rocking crowd roared back: “Yes, you can. Yes, you can.”

“He’s the politician’s politician, he’s the most popular leader in the world, President Obama is the last best hope to get our country back on track,” said one Portland fan during televised interviews after the Oct. 20 rally.

2. I wonder why he was so late? I could listen to him every day.
I'm glad he got a rollicking reception. The poor guy is working his heart out, that's for sure.
