Dems lead in early voting in OHIO 44-34
Democrats in Ohio believe their voter-turnout operation is surpassing Republicans' efforts based on early numbers that show more of their partisans voting early and absentee.

According to numbers tabulated by the Ohio Democratic Party and released exclusively to POLITICO, out of nearly 400,000 votes cast across the state through Thursday, 44 percent were from registered Democrats, 34 percent from Republicans.

The number included returned mail ballots and in-person early votes. Absentee voting, whether in person or by mail, made up 30 percent of ballots cast in Ohio in 2008.

Ohio Republicans disputed the figures but declined to provide their own data, saying it was against their policy to reveal strategic information.

Party breakdowns of early turnout are collected by Ohio's 88 counties but are not tabulated on a statewide basis by the secretary of state's office.

Ballots have been requested by 839,390 Ohio voters thus far, with Democrats comprising about 40 percent to the GOP's 30 percent, and the rest unaffiliated voters.

The Democrats' coordinated campaign director, Lauren Groh-Wargo, said the party's months of organizing were beginning to pay off. "This is not accidental," she said. "We have made a concerted effort to target infrequent Democratic voters. We are expanding the electorate in this midterm election, and Republicans are not."

1. Jesus, NPR couldn't choke any of this down this morning.
The best that they could say was that a few races were tightening & kept going back to some GOP paid for gallop poll that said it's going to be a republican landslide.
