Maybe I'm just a hopeless optimist, but... |

I honestly think the Democrats will do better than expected on November 2nd. Will they lose seats, of course. But I don't think this "wave" the media is talking about will happen. My prediction is the Dems retain both the house and senate and even if they do by 1 vote given the expectations game the pundits and pollsters have been shoveling for months about the "enthusiastic" republicans who can't wait to vote (if so why are the Dems leading early voting in several states?)it will be a victory for the Dems if they retain congress.
Just saying.

The polls are correct insofar the population they're reaching.
But...they're missing large swaths of the population.

2. They'll still gain a few seats plus blue dog dems and moderates always side w/republicans |
|
So Woohoo! We'll have the majority but still not enough votes to get anything done.

I do agree that the democrats will retain both houses, but even if democrats GAINED seats, the meme from the media would be, "Republican wave keeps democratic gains to minimum."

4. Most pundits agree they won't win the Senate... |
|
...So if they miss by one vote, well, 49 seats isn't a victory for me. With that many seats they can stop just about anything.

7. Possible, but I don't think so |
|
A party needs 218 votes out of 435 in the House to control. I see Republicans with roughly 230, but that can still change.
