Why would Americans want to lose social security, Medicare and lose their rights?
If the American people vote for the Republicans this November they will lose most things.

Privatization of federal services, cuts in education, healthcare services....

Gutting local council services - private libraries, private fire departments etc.

Saudi owned corporations will increase their strangle hold on this country.

Not only that but the Patriot Act will be beefed up to watch over you and terrorize you even more.

Endless wars....

1. Because they don't care about informing themselves. At least
some of them. I'm not convinced 'the media' is getting it right though.

8. of course they do
but if their dittomasters tell them they can get more through PRIVATIZATION, they don't ask questions or think, hey, is that a wise idea, considering the financial ruins right now? They THINK WHAT THEIR RICH DITTOMASTERS TELL THEM TO THINK.

sit in front of your TV and watch FOX NEWS or listen to rightwing hate radio all day - the amount of outright lying, misinformation and propaganda is staggering - then realize, these folk live and breathe this garbage - if they're stupid enough to believe that nonsense it is easy to make them believe ANYTHING

3. Because they just do not understand
exactly what the Republicans are threatening/promising.

All they hear is the part about making changes, and business as usual, and cutting taxes. They pay absolutely no attention to what is really being said.

5. I was listening to an old couple behind me in the early voting line
they were saying that it was about time the Democrats were thrown out because they were putting up taxes and overspending. I was bending my drivers license in half (trying not to retaliate).

They can't see "our" it's been brainwashed out of them.

They have been disabled by the propaganda they consume.

They just fervently believe they're the only ones entitled to them.

17. The people on DU who want to punish the Dems by letting Repubs take over.
Edited on Sun Oct-24-10 09:12 PM by CakeGrrl
The ones who keep saying that it'll be the Dems' fault for losing for not giving Dem voters a reason to go to the polls.

The ones who think it's going to be worse on the Dem politicians than on us, apparently, if they're out of their jobs.

15. That's where their mental disability comes in.
Maybe they would finally snap out of it, but we can't risk their "win". We need to save it for ourselves, they'll benefit but they'll never acknowledge their rescue. (Yeah, I know a few -- that's how I know it's a genuine blindspot, they literally cannot see community)

20. Amazing isn't it. Democrats in Office may be bad but Repubs in Office is a Disaster
I think both parties are horrible but it is very clear that repubs are very eager to gut the system and give everythign to the rich and openly willing to let their voters know that they get nothing in return...why? because these voters are completly blinded when you say "U.S.A...U.S.A"....Words like that just make them think they have to be patriotic and destroy all Government even if just a little thought will reveal the disaster of that.

Although democrats do very little when in office i feel the real problem is that whoever is in control they will always look to special itnerests for money and thus, to do their bidding. Democrats like to be secretive when pulling a fast one on their voters and is why they blame republicans for not getting things done (even if they were to have 100% control of the house and 100% control of the senate they will still blame repubs for not getting things done). Whoever controls Congress will always get the money. Right now, all the money is going to Repubs and is why democrats are finally acting progressive at the moment. But after Nov if they still hold majorities (which is unlikely) they will go right back into the pocket of special interests.

The system is broken. But as it stands Repubs in office is worse.

22. They swallowed whole the propaganda catapulted by most of the
media - which investigates the facts about little to nothing anymore. If they did look into anything, they'd investigate all this astroturf and the information being put out by them before reporting the ridiculous BS coming from the likes of Koch Brothers' outfits or Karl Rove's astroturf front organization. Problem is, the media is owned by some of the same corprats behind the propaganda. It all boils down to corprat control of the media and the message.

So, much of the public that swallows their crap and thus are ignorant idiots. Unfortunately, they're easily misled into voting against their own best interests. And that's just the way the Kochs and the Roves and the bu$hs of the world want it.

I have been assured I won't lose SS/MC
I have not seen any candidate running for congress say that
those about to retire (over 55) or those already retired will
lose SS or Medicare. Have you? If yes, please post their names
and I am ready to fire some strong emails to those bastards.
