(R)asmussen CYA CT-SEN POLL: Blumenthal 56 (+5), McMahon 43 (-3)
State Attorney General Richard Blumenthal again holds a double-digit lead over Republican opponent Linda McMahon in Connecticut’s U.S. Senate race.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Connecticut shows the longtime Democratic state official with 56% support, his best showing since early June. McMahon claims 43% of the vote. One percent (1%) prefer some other candidate, and another one percent (1%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Less than two weeks ago after the candidates’ second televised debate, Blumenthal posted a much narrower 51% to 46% lead. But the new findings shift this race from Leans Democrat to Solid Democrat in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Senate Balance of Power rankings.

Despite the ups and downs of the contest, including the New York Times’ disclosure that Blumenthal has embellished his military record in public comments over the years, the Democrat has led consistently in polling since January.

This statewide telephone survey of 750 Likely Voters in Connecticut was conducted on October 24, 2010 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/-4 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.

1. She probably should have kicked Bumenthal in the sac after a debate
that's what got her on the radar in the first place.

2. Ras follows the standard schedule - try to set the narrative - OMG! It is much closer then everyone
thinks!!! A week before election day - oh, look at this, let's get closer to the rest of the polls and show the Dem will win big...blah, blah, blah...

5. No shit. From five points to thirteen points in two weeks?
Come on... Even if we accept his messed-up methodology as legit, what does it say about the "science" of a poll that shows such wild swings?

3. Rasmussen always waits till the last week....
....to bring his polls closer to reality so he can claim some sense of viability. I don't even take his polls into consideration anymore, given his history.
