Portland Oregonian Poll: Vulnerable House Dems Wu & Schrader lead by double digits
A new poll commissioned by the Portland Oregonian found Democratic Reps. David Wu and Kurt Schrader ahead of their Republican challengers by double digits. The two were considered potentially vulnerable in this volatile election cycle, with Republicans poised for massive gains in the House.

Schrader, whose 5th district has more swing potential than Wu's 1st district, led Republican Scott Bruun 50 percent to 38 percent, with 11 percent undecided. Wu took 51 percent to Republican Rob Cornilles's 38 percent, with 8 percent undecided.

Washington-based Elway Research conducted the poll from Oct. 18-21, surveying 400 likely voters in each district with a 5-point margin of error.

SurveyUSA polled the districts last week and found differing results -- Bruun led Schrader by 10 points, and Wu led Cornilles by 9 points.

3. It's way too damn close.
Recent polls have shown a dead heat -- Kitz up by only one or two points.

2. Yep...
I was watching the news last night and hear that Patty Murray here in Washington is now leading Rossi 49% to 46%. Last week on the MSM they were saying that she was doing bad because she was down to like 45% and couldn't get to the 50% mark. That looks to be changing now! The closer we get to the elections the more I see poll numbers changing in "favor" of the democrats. I still think we will lose some seats, but nothing like the MSM has been predicting, and no "landslide" like republicans have been claiming!

4. I'm glad
Wu is a good guy, and will hopefully still be my congressman when I move into his district.

5. I hope that the "enthusiasm gap" doesn't translate into rightist wins.
We will see. Earlier in the year, there was a special election for Murtha's seat that the pundits thought would go Republican; instead, the results were closer to the "registered voter" polls. If there is a "Republican wave," it is contingent not on a politically changed citizenry, but on good mobilization by fascist forces.
