4. Bernie Sanders is an independent who is a self proclaimed Social Democrat.
So, his oponent would be a member of the Democratic Party, which would from a strictly partisan point of view makes Bernie Sanders the one who is anti Democratic, that is big D as in the Democratic Party.

From a little d democratic persepctive, that would be just the word democratic, (characterized by or advocating or based upon the principles of democracy or social equality)unless we know who his oponent might be, we do not know whether he would be anti democratic until we can judge the oponent.

7. For all intents and purposes, Bernie Sanders is functionally a member of the Democratic party.
He has and will continue to campaign for the Democratic party. He has and will continue to caucus with the Democratic party. His last election, he was on the Democratic primary ballot, and he won the nomination for it, then, as planned, he declined the nomination. He maintains status as an independent to make a symbolic point, and I think its a good one, but lets not fool ourselves, Bernie Sanders is a Democrat and we all know it.

8. You are correct, however, functional member and actual member are different.
Should he have a Democratic opponent, then Bernie, from a partisan point of view, is anti-Democratic.

He would still be the best person to vote for.

6. Then Senator Obama campaigned for Sanders on his last run.
Just something to note.
