Riches shadow both candidates in Conn. Senate race - Another article that is pretending to be fair
and balanced, brought to you by AP. Take two things vaguely related, here: Blumenthal is wealthy, McMahon is spending a lot of money yo buy her seat. Then imply both are equivalent.

It seems to be how the media are working these days. It is hard to find a more pointless article.

Riches shadow both candidates in Conn. Senate race
By Susan Haigh
NEW BRITAIN, Conn.—While Democrat Richard Blumenthal has accused his wealthy Republican opponent, Linda McMahon, of trying to buy Connecticut's Senate seat with her $50 million, the attorney general is no stranger to wealth.

The vast majority of his family's wealth comes from his wife Cynthia, whose assets are valued between $55.3 million and $107 million. Her family is part-owner of the Empire State Building.

Some voters say they weren't aware of Blumenthal's family wealth until this campaign. McMahon has questioned why he's accepted political action committee money to help fund his race to win the seat now held by Sen. Chris Dodd.

Blumenthal isn't perceived as flashy. He's a fixture at potluck supporters and is known for taking on causes of everyday citizens.
