Poll question: In terms of voters, what is the biggest single factor in the 2010 election |

Mid-term elections are always a hard sell for the party in power. People get complacent. In somes states, like NJ, there is nothing driving statewide turnout---no race for Governor or Senator.

For some reason people don't hear and understand the stakes: Social Security, environmental issues, possibility of health care reform going the way of the dinosaur, etc. I am very discouraged today, both about national races and Iowa races. At stake in Iowa is something that works, preschool for 4-year-olds provided by the state. Branstad wants to have a "public-private" partnership for preschool. His public-private partnership means that the public pays the money for and to private companies. Branstad kept two sets of books when he was governor previously for 16 long years. I've never heard any explanation for that and it doesn't seem to matter to potential voters. I could go on, but I'll spare you that.

7. Single biggest? Stupidity on all sides. |
|
Stupid voters who don't pay attention to whats going on, or if they do, don't use any common sense in judging the information that comes from their TV or computer. Stupid citizens who don't care what happens and assume its all the same, and don't bother voting. Stupid rich people who don't see that everyone is improved by a modest investment in society, but what they are doing will end up hurting most of them in the end. Stupid Pubs who don't care if they destroy everything that they want to control, just so long as they get to control it. Stupid Dem's who don't stand firm on much of anything and do not provide clear leadership or direction.
