Something is wrong with a democracy...

...where people are discouraged from voting by pollsters and media moguls.

Why vote at all? Let Gallup or Rasmussen tell us who we want to represent us. After all, we could find more fun things to do than to go and vote.

"Turn out the lights, the party's over." That is their message and it is a very negative one.

Yes, some polls will be right and some will be wrong. But, is that any different from us guessing who is going to win? We will get some right and some wrong. But we don't pass ourselves off as the gospel and the final word, as some pollsters do.

There is no doubt that polls affect how people will vote or whether they vote at all?

But what effect does it have on our democracy? What good does it do to discourage people to the point of depression?

1. Something is wrong with the people
Instead of being mad at Bush and the republicans for creating this mess, they are mad at Obama and the democrats. So, now they will vote the democrats out and let the people that created the mess in. How stupid is that?

Gloria Nelson of Wausau said she previously supported Feingold but won't this time because of the federal bailout of Wall Street. When told that Feingold actually voted against the bailout, the grocery-store worker in her mid-50s hesitated and said, "Well, I'm still not voting for him. He spends too much."

No comment. I am speechless.

2. The stupidity of the American population is overwhelming.
The seeds of America's decline and fall have been sown. The harvest is coming in. The greedy have enlisted the stupid to fight their battles for them. The stupid outnumber the smart by a large factor. They will win.

3. it's not "democracy" ...
democracy is a lot better than most other options ...

we as a people are just far too complacent and self indulgent right now - making us succeptable (sp) to the BS being sold right now ... Same reason the country got sold the bill of goods on Jr. and voted for a guy they would like to have a beer with over a decent and competent guy in Gore.
