WSJ: Obama may invite triumphant GOP leaders to Camp David
--WSJ lead story, “Foes Plan Post-Vote Deals: Parties Debate Conservative Tax, Spending Compromises as GOP Win Looms,” by Laura Meckler and Peter Wallsten: “Strategists in both parties see two options for President Barack Obama.

He could seek deals on issues including trade, taxes and spending, following the model of President Bill Clinton, who after losing Congress in 1994, compromised with the GOP to overhaul welfare. Striking deals could help Mr. Obama advance his agenda and run for reelection as a pragmatist. Some Democrats mention education and trade as areas for compromise, both realms where the White House is to the right of key constituencies.

Mr. Obama could also follow the model of Harry Truman, who dug in and successfully portrayed an opposition Congress as obstructionist. That would lay the foundation for a 2012 reelection campaign where the president could draw contrasts with his opponents. …

The president has offered mixed signals on his intentions, suggesting he is open to compromise but then adding during a recent campaign swing that Republicans ‘can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back.’ …

White House aides are debating ideas to reach out symbolically to the GOP, perhaps with a presidential visit to the Capitol or an invitation to Camp David, a Democrat familiar with the details said.”

Obama may?

Republicans may not be "triumphant."

A highly speculatory story about what Obama might do or could do or is thinking about doing. All anonymous sources, of course, and before the supposed events have even happened yet (the election).

And of course what will follow is bellows of rage from people screaming Betrayal!

17. If it's anything like what happened when Obama attended their conference this year
then I'd say that it would be the Republicans whom would end up being miserable.

12. What ^ y'all said.
As the WSJ suddenly got it's credibility back. Jeebus.

Then again, the headline says "may", not "will". Perhaps it's a suggestion?

IF this happens, I don't expect the first lady would be present, or allow the children to go back to Camp David after such a meeting until the place had been thoroughly fumigated.

14. Why is it always up to the Democrats to reach out and compromise?
Several key Republicans have already made it clear that they have no intention of compromising with the President on anything. Their idea of bipartisanship is "do what we want and nothing else."

Republicans are expected to dominate and control government at all times.

Get with the program already! ;-)

24. Imagine how Hannity and Limbaugh would howl and scream if Pres.
Obama didn't reach out to the republican leadership. They'd claim he was slighting them, not showing them any respect, etc. And yet if a republican president ignored the Democratic leadership they'd all applaud it.
