Crist will be on Countdown tonight.
Edited on Thu Oct-28-10 08:05 PM by jenmito
I wonder if there will be any discussion of the discussions going on in a few threads here re: Meek dropping out.

ANOTHER update: Keith just reported that Meek said Crist mischaracterized the talks with Clinton and MEEK will be on Countdown tomorrow night!

1. Meek hasn't refused, and Crist won't say who he'll caucus with
Just what we need, another Joe Lieberman.

4. Dont worry, we wont be getting another Lieberman ... we're getting a Tea Bagger....
.... THE Tea Bagger prince actually ... and a strong contender for the '16 Presidential race.

.... (from a political perspective.)

I view Tuesday night as the first step in his inevitable GOP nomination in '16 or later. And he'd be pretty hard to beat.

That being said .... please bow out Kendrick. .... I had been hoping the President had asked him to step down, relieved to hear A President did.

14. Yup...
and he also pretends to not be extreme, always talking about his parents coming to this country and living the American Dream. I REALLY hope that if he wins, his true colors will show so he won't be a threat to Dems.

I think even if Meek DID drop out, it would be too late since his name will be on the ballot and people started voting already.

25. I thought he might due to the reports of him having a press conference tomorrow morning...
but Keith reported nothing about that. Could it be that Crist talking about it made Meek change his mind?

27. I dont think he ever had any intention of dropping out....
.... if you cant see three weeks ago that you're way behind, you aren't gonna suddenly get a revelation now. (Even with Pres. Clinton's insistence.)

I like the guy, but this is coming across as "me before party" and I dont like it.

28. Well...
I thought Bill Clinton could've gotten him to drop out since he was so strongly on his side that he might listen to him if nobody else. I guess I was wrong. I KNOW I was wrong.

31. you left out the most important thing about Rubio
that he is very photogenic and looks good on TV.
In good ole USA in the era of TeeVee that is a big plus.

10. I don't think it's that people here "trust" him or "gleefully advocate" for him...
They just don't want Rubio to win, and it's obvious Meek will not win.

29. I respectively disagree. I've read glowing
reviews and robust advocating for Crist here but I'm prevented from 'calling anyone out' due to DU rules - since voting for a Crist Republican is now ok. The self fulfilling prophecy meme that Meek can't ever win was launched from the beginning - Meek never had a chance since he was abandoned by the party from the get go. I find it disgusting - but I'm just a far leftist hippie loyal Dem.

35. Feel free to use me as an example. I've met the guy, spent time talking to him and
I met his father and talked to him. I know people who have known him their whole lives. He is not a bad alternative to Rubio. He's not a bad person. He definitely has several viewpoints (at least in the past) with which I have disagreed.

5. Crist said the discussions DID occur...
and he's now 7 points down from Rubio. He did NOT say Meek will drop out. Isn't it too late anyway? Isn't there early voting? Meek's name is on the ballot and he IS the only real Dem.

7. Interesting twist at the end! Meek's people called in and wanted Keith...
...to ask Crist how he knew about the discussions with Clinton.

Answer: Crist has been talking with people very close to Clinton.

15. It's beyond politics. For the sake of our country they (TP/GOP) need to be defeated.
Crist has burned his bridges with the Republicans, and it looks like he actually has a shot at stopping Rubio. I hope he makes it.

16. At this point, I have to agree.
I have posts here rooting for Meek, but with Meek not catching fire, and Crist within 7 points of Rubio, I think it's our only chance to keep Rubio out for Meek to drop out. It may be too late already, but it's our best hope. Crist was endorsed by Robert Wexler, has changed his positions (for political purposes, of course) and will almost definitely caucus with Dems.

please drop out. You are way behind in every poll.

So just fricking drop out! That will look better on
your resume than a defeat on Nov 2nd.

Stop being selfish. Stop being a sore loser. You lost
the primary. Get out and give Meek a chance to win.

And you can transfer your early votes to Meek!

33. You Can't Transfer Your Votes
I haven't done the math but if half of Floridians have already voted and Meek is only getting fifteen percent of them I don't think there's enough votes left for him to win even if he got every vote that would have went to Meek from here on out,
