These calls for Kendrick Meek to drop out of the race smack of desperation and make us all look amateurish. It was empirically obvious months ago that Meek, although a great guy, had no chance against Marco Rubio in this political and economic environment.
The tragedy is that Marco Rubio, his mentor Jeb Bush, and the Tea Party are beneficiaries of our ineptitude.
on edit-If the Democratic party had some grand plan they should have executed it before early voting and before stalwart Democrats like me voted for our party's nominee. John Stuart Mill called the Tories, the conservative party of his day "the stupid party". He could be referring to us.

1. That's only because it is desperate and amateurish to be done this late |

when it could have been done months ago. Kind of funny, though, that Rubio will be the beneficiary of Democratic Party purity principle.
I feel sorry for Floridians that will have to live for 6 years with Senator Rubio, but then I may have to live for 6 years with Senator Johnson. At least Feingold has a chance to win and still may, so my vote for him will really mean something more than slavishly voting straight party. Reality is a harsh mistress.

No miscalculation just being practical given the circumstances. I would not call stopping Rubio desperate just very sane a rational. He's the tea bag of the tea bags from what I'm hearing, worringly because the rest are way out there to begin with.
