I'm sure a lot of black people in Florida are PISSED off with the dems, crist , clinton and anybody else connected to the election (except Obama) that they are probably saying Fuck all ya'll! Without a substantial black turnout in Florida to counteract rubio's potential hispanic votes the democratic ticket will sink quicker than Alex Sink.

3. sadly, Meek is a weak candidate. He has no one to blame for his low polling but his lack of |
|
skill as a politician in this particular 3-way race. He seems like a great guy, with great beliefs. If he was close at all (15 points) I'd vote for him. But, a fascist will be elected if Crist doesn't get in. The thing here is, Meek saying he's sticking around may be just for the black voters to still show up and support him, who knows? But, I think Meek's drop to 15% was softening by lib voters who saw Meek had no chance with a week to go.

5. crist is the one who lacked skill |
|
He was a popular governor (at least at one time) who was getting his ass handed to him by a teabagger. To cut his losses he dropped out of his primary and tried to do the independent thing. He couldn't shake the black guy and the his voters to go to him. So with the help of progressives (predominantly white) the cries for the progressive dem (who won his primary) to drop out cause the repub/independent CAN'T close the deal. Now it seems that crist did a punkazz move today and probably has sank the entire democratic ticket. But of course crist don't care about that, since he ain't a democrat. He just want to get elected and if that means pimping out the progressives to do it so be it. We all should be so proud.

is a popular governor. Meek has never challenged.

14. Kendrick "Blue Dog" Meek NEVER Got Above 3RD & I DO Live In Florida! |
|
I know many, many, many Democrats who are voting for Crist. Meek has been weak from the get-go. I think the State Party leaders felt they needed a DLC type to win, but instead once again they screwed up!
The State Party here is really once weird bunch of people. And Karen Thurman is not good at her job. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.
However, it's just a sad state of affairs here because I do think Crist could have pulled this one off. With Meek staying in and only polling at 15%, it will only reflect poorly on Meek. Many won't forget what happened if Rubio goes to Washington!
Meek KNOWS the numbers and he knows them well. He also knows he doesn't have a chance and that he's never polled above 3rd, and a bad 3rd at best.

24. I would disagree that Meek was chosen as a DLC'er. |
|
The Florida democratic party and candidates thought running against Crist for Senate was going to be an uphill battle so no very serious candidates threw their hat in the ring. Meek was probably encouraged to run as he is a young, good looking guy and his presence in a statewide election could probably help down ballot democrats by turning out African American voters. He would increase his name recognition and set himself up well for future races, but there was no doubt that he was a sacrificial lamb.
That whole line of thinking when out the window once Rubio forced Crist out of the republican primary but by then it was too late to get any super strong democratic candidates in the running and get them the financial support needed, hence why the scumbag billionaire was the only other democratic candidate.
Honestly, I think that Meek is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. If he doesn't drop out, some democrats will blame him for Rubio winning. If he does drop out, some democrats will blame him for giving up and independent will view him as being another dirty politician who will take a pay off.

Scott in Tallahassee, Rubio in Washington, DC
Go ahead folks, give it a try and in 2012 you'll be thinking Crist wouldn't have been all that bad.
He has a vendetta and never really like the GOP in the first place. You got to admire the guy for telling John McCain he was too busy to help him campaign when he was here in Florida because he had promised his family he would take them to Sea World that week.
And, Charlie Crist is the only politician that has intervened and helped my family on a very important issue I had in 2008. My other two democratic reps are still no shows.

12. Crist was a centerist governor and that is why he could not close the deal in |

the republican primary. The fact that he embraced Obama and supported the stimulus also killed him in the republican primary.

|
"golden one" Rubio. Jebby's way to march forward as a candidate for POTUS! Jebby's Repukes practically shoved Crist out, but Crist one-upped them and stood up to them. Given how the Repukes roll, that is something that shouldn't be taken lightly.
And he has been more moderate and appointed some judges against Jebby's input. Two of them are black too. So this isn't a race thing. Crist has surprised me by how he's governed, Jebby just didn't like it AT ALL!

23. Actually the Florida republicans were never that sold on Crist to begin with. |
|
There was a lot of talk about Crist being gay, in Florida and on a lot of message boards - this one included. Crist was also not a hard core social con and was thought of as a RINO but he was the republican's best chance to win the governor's race, so they went with him.

7. a friend of mine was helped by his republican rep. which shocked me, and the rep is a right-winger |
|
and so, despite the policies I am for being heavily liberal, there are real differences between Crist and Rubio even though they're both really republicans - Crist isn't that bad of a repub, and frankly, Meek hasn't run a very good campaign, he's never really challenged, because Crist is a popular governor. I woulda preferred Jim Davis, but Crist won, and at least he's no Jebby. He's backed the teachers on an important issue, and he didn't get in the way of Gay adoption after the ruling when he could have, and also took the stimulus money which p'd off the GOP!

What could have cost me and my family tens of thousands in fines and legal fees and after dozens of phone calls, emails and letters with the state trying to get them to fix their mistakes only took one phone call to his office and three hours later the problem was solved.

with how I voted for the Senate candidate! Yes, I DID DO IT, and all of my family too! Most of my family lives here and we made the decision we felt we needed to make.
I even turn the channel when I see Rubio's face on TV and having to think he may be on much more is a horror to me!

The Florida Democratic Party is so incompetent, they can't field candidates. And most of the ones they do, couldn't win an uncontested race.
In Tampa, a Senate candidate and County Commissioner (repuke) is caught red-handed taking a half-million dollar bribe, and his only opposition is the other repuke who lost to him in the primary.

Outside of the Tri-County SE area he has no name recognition and those areas were already solidly Democratic anyways. So no.
