4. Because the polls are tightening, they are desperate, and this is what they do.
Surely you were paying attention in 2004. 2006, and 2008.
It's right on time, and so predictable.

17. The most recent report states that bombs were mailed to Jewish synagogues...
in Chicago. That was on NPR.

So you are saying that the GOP mailed bombs from Yement to Chicago Synagogues? Care to prove that?

20. Because the timing is suspicious doesn't mean that someone here did it.
There really are people who do not like us, and a successful terrorist attack during an eleciton is a way of showing how we Satanic Americans can not protect ourselves. They have their own agenda.

Sometimes a bomb is just a bomb and not an attempt to circumvent the political process by the other side.

33. First of all, opihi didn't "proclaim" anything....
People are allowed assert anything they please, without feeling they have to remain mute if they can't provide iron-clad "evidence" for everything they say. You are free to disagree.

For my part, I don't think the GOP has the wherewithal to perpetrate these so-called terrorist plots. On the other hand, people who talk about "locking and loading" and killing all liberals, and who countenance throwing women onto the concrete and stomping on their head/neck are capable of just about anything.

Oh, here's the obligatory...In. My. Humble. Opinion.

5. Remember all the red/orange alerts by the DHS during the 2004 election?
Edited on Fri Oct-29-10 12:14 PM by 4lbs
Typically after something good for Kerry, the next day an orange security alert would be issued by the DHS and everyone would forget about the good thing that happened for Kerry. People's fears were being played upon like clockwork.

The Democratic party has been getting some good news lately, suddenly all these 'suspicious packages' to play on people's fears.

6. And then they suddenly stopped after the election!
John Ashcroft stepped down shortly after the election claiming terrorism had been defeated.

Shrub then shifted his focus to Social Security reform.

11. The orange alert is now reserved for Boehner, isn't it?
Just to let us know Boehner is in the area? We have suspicious Boehner heads sitting on porches all over town. Eerie.

7. Full story.
The discovery of an improvised explosive device on a cargo plane in the United Kingdom set off an international search for suspicious packages, including one at a loading dock in downtown Brooklyn.

The package inside a UPS truck at MetroTech - it was later found to be an envelope from Yemen - temporarily shut down the Manhattan Bridge and part of Flatbush Ave. on Friday. It also caused the evacuation of two buildings in the downtown complex.

The cargo plane scare also prompted authorities to ground and search cargo planes in Philadelphia and Newark. The package found on the UK plane Thursday night was shipped from Yemen and bound for Chicago, officials said.

The suspicious package in Brooklyn was cleared just before noon on Friday. An NYPD X-ray of the envelope revealed that it simply contained bank receipts.

"That package has been scanned by our bomb squad and been cleared," Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.

While workers and authorities were relieved that the envelope was harmless, officials told the Associated Press that investigators were trying to determine whether the scare was a dry run by would-be terrorists.

President Obama learned Thursday night of the initial threat in the UK.

someone at the rally tomorrow will bring a sign saying, "This sign investigated by the TSA" on one side and "Election Day is coming. Time for a terror alert!" on the other.

16. How on earth do you think the Republicans are involved...
This is Obama's FBI, Obama's counter terror agencies.

Where does this insanity come from? How on earth could Republican's be behind it?

And besides that, why would they want to be? This doesn't help them at all. If anything, at least at the margins, it seems to me this actually helps the Democrats as we are successfully defending against a possible attack of some kind.

The ONLY thing the Republicans want to talk about is THE ECONOMY. Anything that takes the focus off the unemployment rate is probably a small net negative for them.

Please, leave the crazy to the Teabaggers. Nutty conspiracy theories like this make us look silly.

25. And how do terror threat fears help the GOP this time out?
The Obama administration handled this in a professional way. There is no reason to believe voters are going to support Republicans more because the Obama administration dealt successfully with a potential threat.
