Is the rally just a fun way to spend an afternoon with entertainers, comedians and 200,000 of your closest, most apolitical friends?

Thousands participate in the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear on the National Mall in Washington, Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010. The 'sanity' rally blending laughs and political activism drew thousands to the National Mall Saturday as the comedians Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert cast themselves as the unlikely maestros of moderation and civility in polarized times (AP Photo/Carolyn Kaster)

1. THOUSANDS? The mall was totally full from the capitol to the Washington monument.
People filled the steps of all the surrounding buildings. I've never seen anything like it. Not surprised the low-balling has begun by the MSM.

4. That 'thousands' is from an AP photo caption. Ignore it. NYT blog post says 200,000!

5. Sorry to confuse. That 'thousands' estimate is from the AP photo I posted on the OP, not the NYT.
