"If a free soceity cannot help the many who are poor..." |
|
"If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich..." - John F. Kennedy, Inaugural Address 1961
Our president might want to take these words to heart when he resists aggressive measures to help out those affected by the housing crisis for fear of helping a few deadbeats or speculators.
That is all.

2. Glad you see the point of my post. |

I donated to local shelters and to thrift stores other than Goodwill. I also contribute regularly to several charities when I'm not without a job.

4. After the sleepy Eisenhower White House, here was |
|
the vivid young Kennedy, armed with a strong education and a circle of advisors who knew the value of language, who understood its impact on those in power and on those who are governed.
It was a close election. Kennedy won. It is still startling to me that nearly half the voters in that election thought Nixon was an acceptable leader, but of course, my family tree was as split as many others were.
Kennedy had the vibe. He spoke from the high realm into the deep heart, and he used language to get there. That Inaugural address is a diamond. And the line you quote in the OP is especially good.
Recommended.

'we' are not going to help the poor.
'We' can't even help the masses caught up in the Foreclosure mess.
