Dems lead NY Gov race and both senate races by 20+ points in new Siena Poll
A new survey suggests New York State Democrats in the top three races are holding steady to win big with voters on Election Day.

The Siena Research Institute survey of likely voters released Sunday confirms what other polls have suggested the past few days– that the New York Democrats running for the Senate and the governor's mansion continue to hold comfortable leads over their opponents ahead of Tuesday's elections.

Andrew Cuomo, the Democratic gubernatorial candidate, continues to lead his opponent, Republican candidate Carl Paladino, 58 percent to 33 percent according to the poll. Current New York Democratic Gov. David Patterson dropped his reelection bid earlier this year.

Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, who was appointed to serve the remainder of Hillary Clinton's term when Clinton was appointed Secretary of State, is ahead in the race against her challenger, Republican candidate Joe DioGuardi, 57 percent to 37 percent.

And the survey has two-term incumbent Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer leading Republican candidate Jay Townsend by a 64 to 32 percent margin.

This SRI survey was conducted October 27-30, 2010 by telephone calls to 603 likely New York State voters. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
