14. I dunno. South Carolina could give them a damn good run.
My fellow South Carolinians just gave us 6 more years of Jim "Fire pregnant single teachers" DeMented, and another two years of Joke "You Lie" Wilson. They dumped wingnut Bob Inglis for someone even nuttier, and we have the first black tea bagger elected to office. The only sane one is Jim Clyburn, and I suspect the state legeslature, and Governor Sarah Palin, Jr. will try to redistrict him into oblivion.

11. I know
For some reason, many Dems have bought the idea that Snyder isn't so bad. He'll be just as bad as any Republican. In addition to the fact the GOP has complete control of everything now. It's scary to think about the far-right legislation that will soon be passed.

9. Why is Illinois even on this list?

Democratic Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, State Senate majority, and State House majority.

Republicans did take a slight edge in the US Congress. And a split in the Senate. They also took State Treasurer and State Comptroller. But for the most part, Democrats did pretty well here. And Illinois is one state that gave legitimate reason for people to vote against the Democrats.
