"I thought the speech was actually very good" - Newt Gingrich
"he used it as an occasion to remind people, first of all, as he said: that there is evil in the world"

Thats two speeches that Gingrich has liked. The first was the West Point escalation speech.

2. As long as it continues the Bush Doctrine the neo cons are very happy
I heard Howard Fineman cheering Obama's "adoption of the Bush Doctrine" yesterday on NPR. :puke:

3. Newt's running for the nomination in 2012 ...
he needs to solidify his RW base by saying "Obama's escalating the war, like we've been preaching!!!"

16. Can't listen to that dreck anymore
Edited on Fri Dec-11-09 12:49 PM by Moochy
I'm critical of Obama's policies, but I can't listen to NPR's news programs anymore. They are just petulant, bratty and transparent neo-libertarian hacks at NPR's "flagship" news programs. They seem dedicated to just trying to take Obama's image down a peg over petty smears and bias in their interviews. All the while steering clear of the substantive critiques of the policy decisions.

14. Newt is just playing multi-dimensional Chess. You see, he really wants to make Obama look bad...
by praising him, so even though Gingrich hates the war with every fiber of his being, he lauds Obama's justification for escalation. But it's all just to piss off liberals. Even though it doesn't make any fucking sense

17. GOP saying they liked it even as they re-interpret and cherry pick the components
they like. A more thoughtful analysis would reveal complexities they would shun.

Palin's foreign policy philosophy as told to Oprah (paraphrased): I follow Reagan, who looked at other countries and decided they would all lose (in battle...therefore we get what we want). To the extent GOP can re-interpret P Obamas speech to fit into this, they are happy.
