4. First, it was NBC, not FOX. Second, NBC is claiming it wasn't the donations
but the fact that he did not get approval before making the donations, which violated their policy.

Thing is, there's no way to catch them at a lie, there. We can find other NBC "journalists" who contributed, but NBC can then claim they had approval. Their lawyer covered their bases pretty well. We all know it's not about the donations or permission, but we can't really prove it.
