I wish it wasn't true . . .
but more and more I see Obama as a wimp. As someone without the guts
to stand up to the Republicans, to the bankers, to hardly anyone.

Anyone want to bet he caves on the tax cuts to the rich?

13. It's not Obama's fault--but the healthcare bill...
...is an abomination.

There are a few nibbles--for those Pollyannas who are so hungry for any change, that they
feast on a few little crumbs in that bill--and call it a victory.

The bill was written by the insurance companies that camped out on Capitol Hill for weeks
before Congress tackled the issue.

The insurance companies are still making life, death and health decision for the American
people--based on their profit margin. We're the only Westernized country doing it this
way and countries like Angola are laughing at us.

Many of the crumbs we did get are disintegrating. One of the provisions mandated that insurance
companies could not deny child coverage to kids with pre-existing conditions. Many poor families with very
sick children opt for child-only policies, because it was all they could afford. So now, the largest
providers are dropping child-only policies--leaving families in further dire straights that they were
before the bill.

It's not Obama's fault that he's dealing with a pit of vipers--our bought-off politicians and their insurance-company
partners in crimes. The system was rigged before he entered office.

The insurance companies have and will figure out ways to circumvent the crumbs we did get.

Furthermore, the mandate will be nearly impossible to enforce. Companies are dropping insurance. The
economy is still flailing and people will not find an extra $300, $500 or whatever per month to fork over
for health insurance. If they don't have it now--because they are poor--they simply won't pay. What then?

It's a mess.

So was Medicaid.

So was SCHIP.

4. You wish your opinion wasn't true?
"As someone without the guts to stand up to the Republicans, to the bankers, to hardly anyone."

Some people say he's standing up to the left. If he's a "wimp," what are those people's opinion of the left?

Make him do it. No, we can't?

9. I wish I didn't hold the opinion I do.
I supported him in 2008 with my money and my time.
After the first disappointments, I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Now I feel that thinking of him as a wimp accurately describes much of what he's done
in the past and also describes how he'll act in the future.
Maybe once the Republicans begin the impeachment proceeding (about what, I don't know
but they'll dream up something) he'll get mad and become a fighter.

6. I have come to the conclusion...
...that the Presidency really doesn't mean much in this country. The cabal of
elitists, corporatists, paid-off politicians and neocons have their talons in
our democracy.

There's only so much one man--even if he's the President--can do.

I don't think Obama picked Rahm, Geithner and other assorted sold-out gems. They
were placed there to keep Obama in check and in line with the neocon game.

I still love Obama. I think he was honest during the campaign and I think he really
wanted to change things. I don't think someone would put "reinstate Habeas Corpus"
into their written plan for this country--if he didn't want to do something about the
unconstitutional crimes happening in this country.

He wanted to do these things. But the proverbial anaconda has all ready swallowed
our democracy and is digesting it.

I don't think it's wrong to feel the way you do. It's obvious that "change" is not
going to happen. It's obvious that other forces will prevail. We're all sitting
in the dark here, because that's the way the neocons want it. So, wondering if
Obama is a wimp, or a turn-coat or a fake--is normal.

I sense that he is decent. He is very balanced and stable, unlike Bush and some of our
other sociopathic Presidents.

I wish him only the best and I will continue to support him whenever I can.

However, the reality--that corporate interests are running our government with
corrupt and paid-off politicians who just don't care about us anymore--is evident.

15. Why is it so wrong to express an opinion...
...on a messageboard?

Are you totally happy with this administration?

Obama has disappointed many, and I think their voice is important, just like yours is.

Change is not happening. I attended my monthly Democratic meeting, and not one person
there is happy with Obama. They still support him, voted in the recent election and
hope for the best.

I'm frankly astounded that so many are aghast with disbelief that someone would be
disappointed in Obama.

17. "Change is not happening." And that's the problem
Change may not be happening fast enough or in the way that some people wants it to happen, but change is happening.

Look at health care reform: A majority of people want it kept as is or expanded.

Even those who want it repealed (overwhelmingly Republicans), know that a change occurred.

What is Wall Street Reform and the consumer bureau? Aren't those changes?

Even the ACLU sees change: President Obama Signs Executive Order Widening Government Transparency

The stimulus was change. From it's first effects were felt until now, July 2009 through today, it reversed a trend that resulted in millions of jobs lost, and now the economy is creating jobs.

That the person you responded too claims that change is not happening? That is a bold statement. I guess I should tell my dental hygienist who went on and on for hours about how she can now put her handicap son back on her insurance. Yup change is not happening.

nor fast... We have had positive change since the President took office. I think many expected him to have a magic wand and istantly things would be better. It took 8 years to get into the mess and many are only willing to give him 2 years.

They give us things like mandates without public options.

And financial "reform" that continues to allow trillions in shadow markets and too big to fail to continue.

They basically give us worthless legislation, but claim accomplishments

People who said . . .
No way Obama is a wimp! It takes guts to . . .
No guts to stand up to Republicians? Bullshit. Remember when he . . .
Didn’t stand up to the bankers? Are you crazy? Remember when he . . .
Cave on tax cuts? No Way! I’d bet $1,000 those cuts get axed.
Zero

Maybe next year, when the Republicans all but shut down government and start talking impeachment, he’ll toughen up, realize the time for compromise is over, and come out fighting.

Or maybe not.

We’ll see.
