Then the two houses have got to reconcile their individual bills.

A very good time to look as closely as possible at both bills.. and then lobby you congresspersons..

There are going to be poison pills in both bills.. (the republicans have basically admitted they did that).. so now is the time to examine and look for the land mines..

All of the wonderful DU'ers who pull apart these bills for us, are going to be needed even more so..

3. Health care bills? Or welfare bills for health insurance companies?
The only people this so-called health reform bill is helping are the health insurance companies and the Have Mores.

We need to join the rest of the world and pass Single Payer Universal Health Care and by-pass the insurance companies obscene, bankrupting business practices. Then we will have real Health Care reform.

And don't give me this bull shit that single payer of off the table. Even repressive dictatorships get overthrown by the citizens.

4. It's all about the subsidies
I wish people would pay more attention to the subsidies. This will not work if we don't have the House subsidies and frankly, the HELP subsidies were even better. People should have rallied behind the HELP bill in June and we wouldn't be in this mess.

9. How did the Republicans put poison pills in each bill without voting for them at all?

10. There is talk that the conference may be bypassed.
And that the Senate will "ping-pong" their bill to the House to be passed as is.

Even if an expedited conference takes place, its main concern will be crafting a bill that still must face another 60 vote test.

12. Great thread.
Yes, what we need is factual information, constructive dialog, and action plans.

We will know much more once the CBO scores the Senate bill.

In the meantime, I know there's been some discussion about 55-64 year olds being able to buy into Medicare, and how much those premiums will be. We don't know yet, but I have already seen complaints in the msm about how expensive it will be for the individual. Based, it seems, on the false assumption that Medicare is free for people on SS, and the disabled. It is not free, and has a sliding scale depending on income. With that in mind, I posted the current premium rates for those on SSD and SSDI as a base reference.
