Mr. President, seize the bloody bully pulpit |

Edited on Wed Dec-01-10 09:43 AM by WI_DEM
millions of Americans are going to lose their unemployment benefits as the GOP blocks extention. It's time, Mr. President, to have a prime time news conference or a prime time speech and discuss candidly with the American people that the GOP in congress are holding unemployment benefits hostage saying they have to be "paid for." Meanwhile they want to extend tax cuts to the very rich without being paid for and will hold middle class tax cuts hostage until they get their way. Point out the hypocricy, Mr. President.
I support President Obama but feel he needs to be stronger on message and letting the American people know that the GOP in congress have only one priority and that is to protect the wealthiest interests and screw everybody else.
I can accept defeat but I'm finding it hard to accept defeat with a president who doesn't try harder to fight for his agenda.

1. A prime time address would be brilliant. Instead the American public |
|
doesn't know that the Republicans are responsible and therefore should be held accountable. All they know is that many of them are at the edge of economy insanity.

2. In my opinion, this has been the major failing of the administration. |
|
The GOP is on message 24-hours while the administration has done a horrible job touting its successes and a horrible job keeping consistent pressure on the GOP and their stands.

3. I fear our dear President is tone deaf, or does not have the ability to recognize a |
|
moment that needs to be seized and communicated DIRECTLY to the American people.
It's as though he is waiting for the perfect moment or something. I am so confused by his lack of urgency when it comes to communicating.
He has deferred so much that perception has taken the upper hand.
He allowed it. So is our perception of him correct? He is not a fighter?

7. Unfortunately, you're preaching to the choir. If only Obama were |
|
exposed to points of view like yours(ours), but it isn't going to happen. He has no fight in him, preferring to 'negotiate' anything and everything. The saddest part is that he usually just negotiates against himself.
