On the tax issue, there should be no compromising with Republicans, PERIOD. |
|
Let's face it...even if we only raised taxes on people making over 10 billion dollars a year, Republicans would STILL paint Democrats as raising taxes on everyone. That's just how Republicans always paint us, and it always works for them because Democrats do not know how stop them with their gross misconceptions about Democrats and taxes. One of the reasons why Republicans get away with this all the time is because Democrats have done a lousy job explaining why taxes are necessary to make this country run.
It absolutely SICKENS me to hear Democrats talk about compromising on this issue. For any Democrats suggesting that we compromise by raising the cut-off number to a million dollars instead of 250K, I'd like to see Obama tell them if they don't STFU about compromising with Republicans on taxes, he's going to propose DROPPING the cut-off number from 250K to 150K. Let's see how Republicans would like that number instead.
Let's face facts. Whether the cut-off number is a billion, or a million, or 250K, when the next election rolls around, Republicans are going to run around preaching that "Democrats raised taxes again!!!" as if we raised them on everyone anyone. So there should be NO compromise on the tax issue PERIOD because compromise will not do us any good politically AND we desperately need the frigging tax money to make this country fiscally sound again. When the hell will we ever learn to play hardball and stick to our guns?
Compromising with Republicans on this issue will prove once and for all that we are nothing but WEAKLINGS and wish to remain so. More importantly, I believe it would also tremendously jeopardize our efforts to fix whats wrong with this country and to win the White House again in 2012. Bush's tax cuts for the rich need to evaporate with no compromise for them, period, for the sake of our country and for the sake of our Party.

2. He campaigned on letting the cuts expire. The "new deal" just showed up. Everybody is for the sunset |
|
For once let the fucking Congress do what they do best ... NOTHING.
let the damned cuts expire. The way they were structured most people under $125K will see a dollar or two increase.

3. I get the sense that there are very very big stakes in this tax cut thing. |
|
They are ready to shut down the whole system over it & Obama knows it. The least he could do is come clean about why he capitulated.
