Rep. Dennis Kucinich postponed a hearing to scrutinize the Federal Reserve’s latest round of debt buying — the day after his office announced it.
Aides to the Ohio Democrat, who frequently questions the Fed, alerted other committee Democrats last Wednesday that the Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee he chairs will indefinitely delay a hearing, originally scheduled for Tuesday, “in order to work with the Federal Reserve to allow them to testify,” according to an email.
No date has been set for a rescheduled hearing, according to a spokesman to Mr. Kucinich, and there are only a few weeks left before Democrats relinquish control of the U.S. House next year.
Mr. Kucinich announced the hearing last week to raise questions about the decision earlier this month by the central bank’s policy arm, the Federal Open Market Committee, to buy up to $600 billion in Treasury bonds.
