So you are willing to sacrifice
DADT, START and The Dream Act for some revenge against 2% of the country?

It was almost unbelievable, if it wasn't so believable.

1. If you believe the repukes will cave on those things just because the rich get their tax cuts,
Edited on Thu Dec-02-10 04:54 PM by BrklynLiberal

You got that right. They refuse to let anything get to the floor "UNTIL" they get the tax cuts for the rich, and then they will go back to their "standard" voting stance of NO,NO, NO,NO...!

Nope you don't give them what they want first, and then HOPE they vote for the other stuff, no way in hell!

3. So if the Dems agree to extend tax cuts for everyone.....
Edited on Thu Dec-02-10 04:59 PM by Cali_Democrat
You think the Republicans will compromise on DADT, START and the Dream Act?

Clearly you don't know Republicans very well.

They want to have their cake and eat it too. They will not compromise on those 3 issues if the tax cuts are extended.

You're dreaming.

16. Correction: they want to have their cake and everyone else's cake
and then get someone else to pay for the cake and clean up the mess after they've gorged themselves and had a cake fight.

5. Could you explain that?
Edited on Thu Dec-02-10 05:08 PM by RandomThoughts
There are concepts that seem to be a different thought process.

what revenge is being taken on 2%?

Why would that effect other legislation?

And if it did, why would you blame what you call 'revenge on 2%', that would not be who effected the other legislation. Why would you think the issues are connected?

Or to make it easier, each should be argued on its own merits. If you are asking what I would do, I would allow them to destroy all existence before backing down. If they can explain why their view might be correct on something, then I would agree and be able to learn from it. If they can not explain something, why would you allow some threat of them doing bad on something else change your mind?

Why would I back down to some threat if it could not be argued or shown the better way?

Although I would not destroy anything nor agree with any hurt or destruction, I know a Sophie's choice is used to move the blame off of the person that does the bad, and try to put it on someone that will not agree with some other wrong they might want them to agree to.

So I might not think like you.

12. Wow, so collecting taxes is revenge? That's what you think?
And also, you are suggesting that a deal has been made, what evidence of such a deal can you offer? Or are you just casting more bait, this time using issues of vital importance to this country as some form of shield?
Tell us what deal you know of, what are the parameters? Who are the parties to this deal?

13. So expecting the top 2% to pay their fair share of taxes is revenge?
Really?

Is this one of those "new Democrat" attitudes that we old Democrats just don't get?

What do you call the rest of us paying more than our fair share?

17. Exactly. The loot for the fat cats would be going on the Chinese credit card.
I don't understand why this is even an issue . . . especially among the right wingers who are deficit obsessed.

18. I think START and the DREAM Act are dead regardless of any deal on taxes.
DADT is attached to the defense appropriations bill, which is a must pass, so it's probably safe.

19. YOU must be very naive

To believe the republicans will ever allow DADT to be reversed ( it will take the courts to do it).. The Dream Act ( they will just NEVER allow that ).. START ( that they will allow ).. but I say call there bluff.. If they want to take the ball and go home.. let them.. You MUST stand up to a bully/blackmailer or else they will just keep coming after ya...
