Mother Jones: Obama 2.0
I'll repeat something here that I said at a talk I gave last weekend: basically, Obama has another two or three weeks to prove he's not an idiot. During the lame duck session, a continuing public dedication to bipartisanship might make sense because there may still be a few bills that he can pass with just a few Republican votes. And it's easier to get those votes if he's not out in the Rose Garden every day telling the world that Republicans are all obstructionist assholes.

The entire article is here....http://motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2010/12/obama-20

1. I've been saying for two years that he will get much tougher in the next two...
I don't have a crystal ball, however, and I'm not too keen on his using the bully pulpit.

3. Speaking directly to the people is one of his best skills
so why are you 'not keen' on him using that talent? He should be advocating his positions constantly. He's a very good orator, and he should be making use of that. It is gold in politics, like a personal ATM, and he should max it out daily.

4. I love that he's an engaging speaker!
And I agree he needs to speak out more. I don't think that's the bully pulpit... that would be running roughshod over everyone and making executive orders and signing statements left and right.

5. He'll get tougher now that it no longer matters? Charming. (NT)

6. Um, no...
He'll get tougher after giving his best effort toward bipartisanship.

I find it rude when people put words in my posts.
