One of my senators is Chuck Schumer. I really like him (up until now, that is), but I'm planning on giving his office a piece of my mind about his idea to compromise with the Devil on extending Bush's tax cuts for anyone making up to one million dollars per year instead of 250K per year.

Is it more effective to call their office or to email them at the link they supply? Does anyone ever actually read those emails and pass them on to the Senators? If I had to guess, I'd think that phoning would be more effective, but I'll see what you guys say first.

12. Call then anyway
You can bet that Schumer and Durbin and other Democrats who are set in their positions on this are getting bombarded by the other side.

We shouldn't reward them with peace and quiet just because we don't think they are going to swing over to our side. We need to press them anyway. This fight isn't just about today. It's about the next fight, too. And we have to keep making our voices heard no matter what.

6. One of my senators is great on the issue of the tax cuts
Here's a quote from one of the wealthiest guys in the senate

I had a good business career, and I would be entitled to a tax cut for those over the million-dollar mark. But I don't want it. I don't need it. What I am looking at today, I think, is a great American travesty.

9. I'm in the same position mentioned above.
Being a Texan, my calls and emails (which have been done copiously) are sent straight to the trash and on my last call to Cornyn's office, I didn't even get to finish what I wanted to say before they disconnected. I was polite and concise, but they don't want to hear it. But I still email and call. I'm sure that my work is a source of much amusement to the two biggest corporate dicks in the Senate.

11. Me, too.
I'm in South Carolina. My time is better spent applying for jobs that I'm not going to get anyway.

10. I've tried to get through
three times each. I will try again after President Obama is done speaking. Incidentally, I am calling from overseas - Italy - where I am working temporarily. No Compromise.
